18x9.5 +38 on 235/40/18 or 245/40/18 with Whiteline Lowering Springs
 

Hi Guys,

Just looking for feedbacks / recommendations as I'm fairly new still!

I recently bought a Rays 57CR 18x9.5 +38 and was thinking of pairing it up with Whiteline Lowering Springs (Bought the springs already)

For Tyres, I was thinking of going 235 or 245/40/18 Bridgestone Potenza RE003 or Pirelli Dragon Sport or Possibly a Potenza Sport or AD08R

Question is : :search:
If i go 235/40/18 will it be too stretched?
If i go 245/40/18 will it rub?

Also looking for tyres recommendations (But in Australia Market) so I can get it from Bob Janes or so.

My BRZ is for daily and occasional road trips / cruising with friends.

My advice would be to go skinny, budget tyres so you can powerslide guilt free.

Why not get something closer to stock rolling diameter? Something like 245/35 or 255/35? I have 255/35 Goodyear Eagle Asymmetric 5 with no scrubbing issues at all.

Yeah I was looking at 245/35 too but I can't do 255/35 since I'll need to get coilovers and I'm only on whiteline lowered springs.

I'll check some 245/35 tyres but I was just curious about those sizes too.

255s fit ok on mine with stock suspension (coilovers being fitted this week), but you’ve got a bit more offset and width so may scrub.

245/35 is the closest to stock rolling diameter, but there are less tyre options - no complaints re the Asymmetric 5 and they do come in that size: https://www.tempetyres.com.au/tyrepr...1-asymmetric-5

Ozzy tyres Monsta Street Series 225/40/18. Came with the wheels.

Before that (wait for it) Hifly 225/40/17 from Bob Jane.

Only reason with 235/40 as well is I wanted to try out and see if RE003 will be a bad stretch.

But for 245/35 - I'm looking at Potenza Sport as well and other tyres.

For GY F1 Asymmetric 5, is it fun to drive? like, what's your feedback withit.

Just called Bob Janes and they do recommend 245/35 GY F1 Asymmetric 5 or the 245/35 Continental ContiSportContact 5

I currently run Michelin PS4-S on all our other cars. The Goodyear doesn’t have quite as much grip, but it’s much cheaper and a great all rounder otherwise. If you look at the reviews on tireack it has won quite a few of them. Well priced all rounder IMO. Cost me $188 per tyre for the 255/35.

I do run Michelin PS4s now but I just want to try something new.
Although the GY F1 AS 5 is $330 but Bob Janes willing to price match the Falkens FK510 so it'll be down to $312.

ContiSportContact 5 is $312 too

Any thoughts on Potenza RE050A?

But yeah, he highly suggest the Continental tyres as I daily my car and some occational cruising with the boys.
