Your last cool ICE car?
With the demise of the ICE over this decade, what will be the last ICE car you get?
I’ve started a list of cars I’m interested in. 2nd gen BRZ/86 Civic XI Type R GR Yaris Rallye (Circuit Pack for those of you in Europe). Porsche Boxster/Cayman S (987/981) There are lot of pros/cons (to me) on the list and a lot different cars. If I got a hot hatch, I’d still keep my current BRZ. For me, I’ve never owned a turbo hot hatch and I think it’d be cool to own one, the practicality would be handy too, but I don’t want to give up owning a rwd sports car. The Boxster/Cayman is on there as I’ve always dreamed of owning a Porsche and the sweet sound of a flat 6, the long gearing is a turn off though. Also it’ll be a used car, plus P tax. Probably at the lower end of the list actually. Of course the 2nd gen. I’m assuming towards the end of the decade they’ll start releasing the tS versions of the BRZ and other special editions of the GR86 etc., it will be the best version of this car you can get. But I’ve been here before. I know the 2nd gen is better mechanically but will it be different enough to be my last ICE car. Anyway there is still plenty of time to decide, plenty of reviews to read and in the meantime enjoying my current gen BRZ. I’ll likely be adding to the list as new cars come out too. I’d be interested to hear what other car enthusiasts have on their list. I assume others are starting to think about this too. |
if I had to pick, and money was no object, it would be a 2022 Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing with a MT. The last of the sports sedans.
Other than a C7 or C8 Vette, there really isn't much in the sports car segment that interests me right now. I don't like the GR86, and I'm not much into souped up econo cars. In reality, I'm at a point where I'm likely not to have to phase out ICE ownership in my lifetime unless it becomes legally mandated for used car sales. I'll always own at least one. |

The cars themselves aren't going to vanish overnight, but I'd be more concerned about the availability of gasoline once everyone else switches to electric

My next car is gonna be my last ICE or it might even be electric...depending on how long i keep the 86 (which i've determined will be my last manual transmission car)
So if i dont get electric next, i want my next car to be one of either: -Lexus IS500 -Lexus RC-F -Lexus LC-500 I want my last ICE car to be one equipped with that glorious 2UR-GSE V8 lol. But with gas prices going up and up, by the time i switch that might not even be an option anymore. My (only) electric choice at this time is the VW ID.Buzz. Unfortunately when i saw spy shots of the production car...it doesnt look like a throwback hippie van like the concepts...it just looks like a more stylish regular van... Very disappointing as the whole appeal of that van was that it was throwback hippie van....heck by the time it comes out i might not even desire it anymore. Hopefully by that time some more interesting EV options are available, because none of them out there interest me otherwise (well the Honda.e would likely have been my next choice...but that isnt sold here and its range sucks) |

The only car I have in my list is one that is 81kg lighter than my BRZ RA and has an additional power of 76bhp :
Alpine A110S Main problem is that they don't have yet an extensive network of dealers, but I hope things to get better. It is said that an electric version will be available by 2025, so I can wait a bit ... |

Might as well go electric if they won’t make a manual |
I will own another E36 before I die. Other than that, the 2013 FR-S I have is about as new as I would want to buy for a cool car.

Porsche Cayman or 911 has always been the top car on my list, but gearing is a problem besides the price. I like the body of the old 911, but they are looking dated and even more so on the interior.
If I was going expensive then I think the Lotus Emira would be at the top of my list, but realistically, the car I really want is a RF Miata with a permanent carbon fiber hardtop replacing the retractable top with the motors stripped out and a K24 swap maxed out around 300hp NA and 8-9k redline. That would probably be the ultimate for me at this time. I’ll have to see what the NE Miata looks like. If I had to pick a more practical sedan then the new M240i would be at the top of the list. It is very E30 M3. I never liked the Lexus grills, but the RC350 looks pretty good in person when dropped, so a RC500 (not released) could be tempting, but no manual for either, so don’t care, and they both are too big. |
Unless I can magically afford an Emira one day, I likely have the one I’ll hang on to. NA, manual [emoji1360]
