Sold my beloved 2013 FRS last week and I miss it already. I had the car since day 1, with 8 miles on the clock. Sold it to Carvana with 48,000 for $20k. Had to sell it while the market is hot- it fetched almost $4k more than two years ago.

Loved this forum and met a lot of good people. The dynamics of this forum has changed since 2013 but it still has a wealth of info and better than any of the fb groups out there. Some good memories were made…

I’ll keep my account here just in case I get a GR86 down the road. Keep this forum alive!

The 86s have a lot of character for a car; that's rare these days. Unless you step up to a Porsche or something even more exotic, you won't find a car designed solely for the enjoyment of the driver.

With that good of a value, I would've done the same thing :thumbsup:

I think I wished mine was a manual. It was my one mistake when buying it. Maybe another 86 down the line!

That's $16K more than they offered me for mine ($3,976), and just because mine has almost 150K more miles on it!

That price is incredible. Of course, the 2020 I bought 14 months ago has 25k miles on it, so I guess I am keeping her for awhile!

BTW, I've never understood the obsession with miles over years. Obviously, there is some sort of calculation that can be done and what matters most of type of miles/extent of care.

For example, almost all of my miles are exactly what you would want from a longevity standpoint. 25 mile each way commute, almost entirely highway. Long enough to heat up sufficiently, not too long. Consistent RPM's in the 3,000 range - very little shifting.

A 1 year old car with 0 miles will have significantly less wear than a 1 year old car with 80k miles. Demographic is also important. A car with 130k miles on it that has oil changes and timing belt done when recommended has nothing to do with the rust underneath if it's driven in the salt belt. I won't even buy a used car within 500 miles of my location because of this. Cars with 1 winter on them here have corrosion damage in unimaginable ways.




Anyways, to OP - good call to sell while the market is hot! Even if you love the car, you can get something newer or more suited to your needs now. Glad you had a great journey

I hope this was an extra car and he can wait until this inflated market levels off or goes down some if we are lucky. Selling and buying in an inflated market is no different than selling and buying in a depressed market. In fact chances are you can do better selling and buying in a depressed market if you are patient.

I am not arguing that mileage isn't important, I just think it is mostly overrated when compared to years. Obviously they both have relevance, just how much is the issue. Knowing about the owner, how and where the miles were driven, etc. are very important as well.

As for corrosion, I don't think that is near the issue it used to be, even in the salt belt.

Objective value =/ market value unfortunately.
