Can you turn off the fake speaker noise?

Hello Everyone,

Has anyone confirmed whether or not we can turn off the fake engine noise from the speaker?

The only thing stopping me from placing an order.

The owner's manual says that the dealer can turn it off, or you can simply unplug either the speaker or control unit.

Is the speaker not inside the dash?

If that's really the only thing stopping you from ordering a car, you are WAY too picky IMO. It's really not bad at all in the cabin.

But yes, there's a speaker under the head unit that I'm sure someone will figure out how to unplug in a matter of minutes after receiving the car. And as stated above, dealers have the ability to turn it off using service diagnostics software, but that won't necessarily be free. I would imagine any dealer would offer that service to close a deal on a car though.

It is. In the first few weeks that people actually get the cars, I'm sure the best way to defeat it will be found(pulling a fuse, unplugging the speaker or unplugging the control unit). Otherwise the dealer will be able to do it.

Don't worry about it and order the car if you want one.

weird double tap.

I’m going to wait before I disable the engine speaker, to at least give it a chance. If it’s annoying I’m sure there will be several options to turn it off. It sounds cool in videos. It would be nice if there is a volume control for it. My FR-S was too quiet, even with the TRD intake. I didn’t want an aftermarket exhaust.

I wonder if you could option it and make it sound like a V8?

Perhaps you've discovered a market -- upgrades to make it sounds like a V8, an Alfa 1750, or a Rolls-Royce Merlin.

I will pay to get this thing turned off before I even pick it up lol. The car sounds great without it. I find the speaker sound extremely annoying.

Totally agree. I made arrangements with my dealer to disable the speaker prior to delivery at no charge. They should be able to do the same for you. It’s a matter of reprogramming if I’m not mistaken.
