How did they do such a good job with the car and FAIL with the Rims?
The design of the car is fantastic. The car looks great from every angle but the rims are just FUGLY. How the heck did they make it through all the design meetings and reviews?
I don't know anyone who says they like them. I wonder if they made some crazy deal with aftermarket wheel companies to make the ugliest rims possible so everyone would want to change them. |
Agreed. Terrible rims. Wish they used the 16" version in 17" size.
I guess I am one of the few that like them. I will admit that until I saw them in person I thought "those are getting replaced", but now I'm not so sure. I may get a different set, but I won't get rid of these.
Yea, hated them at first, but now they are starting to grow on me. Especially since my car is asphalt, I think they look good with that color.
I plan on getting mine painted all one color, the wheels are pretty good looking its just the color scheme that is odd
I agree with @Opposed. They look good against the white as well. A lot of my friends hated the wheels on 'paper', but once I got the car, they like them.
The rims are awful - no doubt... but they are light-weight (compared to a lot of after-market options) so they have that going for them
If they were all black - I think they would be tolerable, but I just can't stand the 2 tone |
It still perplexes me because the majority seems to agree they suck so how could the designers not see it.
I like the stock rims a lot. The blacked out portion adds a kind of subtlety to the design. When I see rims in one tone put on the car it just looks crude by comparison.
Personally I think the stock rims look fine. I like that they don't show brake dust.

I don't hate them. They look better either all-black or all-silver. It's the two-tone that turns me off.
Not getting rid of them, though. My winter tires will live on them. |
For a stock wheel, they're not that bad. I've certainly had worse on a lot of other new cars I've owned. And as others have pointed out, at least they're reasonably lightweight.
I thought they were pretty ugly to start as well, but on the Whiteout they grew on me fast. I think it was because the black along with the thickness of the tires made them look chunky and the wheel gap look big, but once the car is seen in person, it looks much lower and the wheels look just big enough for the car. I think for stock wheels they did a phenomenal job.
