Will mk1 brz parts fit mk2?

I know the engine is different but would the coilovers and rear LCA’s fit the new car? I know it’s super early in the game to see but I’ve spend $2500 on suspension parts and would love to be able to reuse some of them. Sorry if this is a really dumb question.

supposedly wheelbase and length are essentially the same and the savagegeese video said that it looked to him largely the same under the gr86 as the old gen, so im hopeful that will be the case.

I saw a post on a different forum that a guy had a press car and was able to swap his coilovers onto it and brakes. No issues.

trippinbillies40 10-03-2021 11:11 AM

Coilovers will definitely fit, as will top hats. Personally verified. Don't think RLCAs are exactly the same but still waiting to see if adjustable MK1 RLCAs will fit properly. Brakes will be a direct swap as well. Didn't really tear into the exhaust to see if anything would fit after seeing that the muffler was different, so gotta wait to see on that one too.

Rear track width changed, so probably won’t fit.
Coilovers will fit, but I would wait until RCE or similar checking which the correct spring rates are (unless you already have it).

... slightly off topic... but what about wheels? Still 5x100 ?

trippinbillies40 10-07-2021 10:40 AM

Yes wheels are still 5x100. There are some pictures of Japanese cars with 18x9.5+45s on them with 255/35 tires, so seems like fitment is probably about the same. I have 17x9+45 ready to go on mine, will use spacers to test offset.

any idea about what kind of TPMS are used on the 22 models? i've already got wheels and tires coming and want to have them mounted up soon

trippinbillies40 10-07-2021 12:34 PM

New part numbers for the 22 TPMS. There's no sensors in the states yet.

I thought I also read the '22 and up would be able to support 2 sets of sensors for swapping wheels?

Or am I imagining that?

I think the JDM muffler tips might fit the 2nd gen

You are correct, which is why they are different parts now I believe. Expensive little buggers too. MSRP of $120/ea.
