Used Vortech Super charger VS Used MaPefromance Turbo Kit
!NOT MAPERFORMANCE ITS A FULL BLOWN TURBO KIT!
Hey guys, I've had my car for roughly a year and a half and I've decided its time for me to have some Go-Fast mods installed. * Questions are my main concerns I've currently been in contact with 2 guys about their kits. What I'm looking to achieve with this post is information about *Reliability of both kits on my AT FR-S, Is a super charger more reliably and Vice versa? (I'll be purchasing all supporting mods + more to keep my motor healthy) As both kits are used what are some concerns should I have about them? *Are they on their way out? Should I rebuild them right when I buy them? Does anyone have any insight when it comes to buying used go fast parts? One guy is selling a Vortech Kit with about 10k miles (According to him) Price: $2000 One guy is selling a Full Blown Turbo Kit w/ a GTX2867r turbo, he ran it for roughly 2 years and claims it didn't drive it too often. Price: $1750 |

Hello,
Vortech Owner here, So with the vortech Kit I love it. It builds boost low and keeps pulling as the RMP's ramp up. Supporting mods like an oil cooler is a must if you have the V-2 Oil engine kit like i do. As you can see on my Dyno graph On E85 I am making 363 WHP The biggest con is the belt breaking. I can not speak for turbos but feel free to ask me anything about vortech. |
turbo is funnier for a daily

The only supporting mods I have is an AOS. I will be installing a meth kit and dropping a pulley to the 2.87. Let me know if you have any other questions. Ill do my best to respond if i see them. |
For reliability, something to consider is that a turbo setup adds points of failure for your car's lifeline - oil (and depending on the turbo, coolant too). There are large opportunities to do something wrong that can cause catastrophic failure extremely quickly.
On the other hand, a supercharger (in my opinion) is far more complex and as noted, losing your belt is a possibility. I would trust a well set up turbo over a supercharger, but I've only ever owned turbo cars |
