Why you cant buy first year model?

Could be issues. Any company will learn from a first year model, update and redesign suspect parts. Smart money buys near the end of a model run. Been watching the forums closely. So far, one down with transmission failure, one with all dash warning lights on.

Cool info. If price is right, i would pull the trigger for one. Tacomas are overpriced, lets see the new Frontier how much dealerships wants...

Those are nice. If I wasn't so in love with my Tacoma I would consider one.

new taco's are inline with market averages. it's the #toyotareliability that kicks used models up to insane valuations

i'd trust hyundai before i'd be ready to trust nissan to get things right.

quite literally everything about nissan's vehicles just looks like designers gave up to me. if someone found a message formed into a plastic stamping with "save me" in a nissan, i wouldn't be shocked.

Saw the new frontier at a dealer today. Nice looking truck but direct injection (alone) is a deal breaker for me. Don't want to be dealing with carbon build up in 50k miles. No one around here does walnut blasting and spray in cleaners don't do squat. Add in no tilt steering. Was watching those forums too.

Taco, santa cruz and frontier are priced out within a few grand in these parts. The dealers are low on inventory and what comes in is sold before it its the floor. Test drove a tacoma, on road liked the cruz better. Besides, my tundra has soured me on toyota.

can't get a frontier with long bed and heated seats. useless piece of garbage.

Rather have a Ford Maverick with Hybrid... but alas neither of these can tow my race car in the future.

You need a lighter race car. Formula Ford? You'd have to step up to the bigger engine to tow a regular car, but a single seat racer + trailer can be done under 2500 lbs.

I figure that, if I'm willing to tow my track car, I should get a proper race car.

Santa Cruz looks like it would be nice if you're driving to Home Depot to grab a few plants, brush trees, etc. Test drove a 2020 Tacoma OR and liked it a lot but I couldn't find myself to get it dirty lol. Passed word onto my BIL and he bought it.

Until something hits my button, I'll keep driving/offroading my 2003 Taco.

I ordered at Santa Cruz Limited in Nov. Hyundai says it built and awaiting shipment. It should be at the dealer in early May. Another test drive confirmed what I originally thought: quiet, comfortable with impressive handling. Only thing I wasn't impressed with is the power or lack there of. But with gas at nearly $2 a liter ($6 a gallon US) it has to be economy over performance.

Saw one on the road Sunday afternoon. It is really a cool looking truck. I almost like it more than the Maverick, speaking of small trucks. The front lights have an interesting design.

I saw one IRL over the weekend as well. I really like it. Reminds me of a 1.15 scale version of the Subaru Brat. If it had rear facing seats in the load area (I know, regulations) I would be totally smitten with it.

I wanted a Brat so bad in high school. I used to drive by the Subaru lot just to look at them.

You're right, it does have a similarity to it. I'm not much for trucks, except the one I grew up with, can't remember the model name, but it was a red Mitsubishi Turbo Diesel. Must had been from the 80s.

If I had my way, I would prefer driving a 90s Toyota Tacoma/Hilux with a 22R than any new truck. The 22R is a legendary engine.

But the Santa Fe has a certain charm to it, if I had the money to afford a second, new, vehicle for weekend yard work, I would consider it in my list.

If my wife's Ascent doesn't show up soon (or at least some news) I am going to try to get her to go this route. I have already sown the first seeds of the possibility to give her a chance to think it was her idea.
The reason? I also get a Brat vibe from it and could not afford one of the few hundred Brats they sold in Canada when it was around. We did not have a Subaru dealer here until well into the 90s so I have still never seen one in person but always loved the idea.
