When can we order?
 

I stopped by my local toyota dealer. The guy told me "he thinks" all car production has been suspended and toyota is focusing on trucks. I understand GR's are built on subaru's line, so GR86's might be produced even though other toyota's are not.

Anyway, I want this thing. Can i order it now or do I have to wait until after the new year?

Yes, Toyota Canada took a $1000 CAD deposit from me. I'm sure Toyota USA will too. No promises on delivery dates though so you gotta sit tight.

Not an order, just a deposit. Find a dealer that has a deposit system and a line for pre-ordering and get on it.

The local Toyota dealer in Houston was absolutely willing to take my money. That doesn't really mean much though....dealers love to take money. They might not know any more about availability than we do, they could just be making a list to keep in the office until they hear something from Japan.

Was told this morning by my local Toyota dealer that I could place a $2500 deposit to join a waitlist that would become refundable after 8 weeks. No word on when they would start receiving cars.

I placed a $500 deposit at a Toyota dealership in the Seattle area last week that is refundable at any time. They weren't 100% on delivery date or MSRP, but someone mentioned $27,xx5 to me. I can't remember the middle two numbers.
Edit: They said I would have dibs on the very first car they get if I wanted it.

Same situation with me in Olympia. They’re pretty aware of the car but are also wondering when everything is available

The guys in the gen 2 BRZ thread have ETA's, strange Toyota can't give you one.

Kind of. My ETA is Nov. Still waiting on a VIN.

It’s not strange, Toyota delayed the GR86 to tweak its behavior.

So it’ll be coming later than the BRZ.

Ah that makes more sense.

Update:

Salesman at my toyota said soon as they get an allocation he will email/call me. Let's hope he holds up to his word.

I bet we don't see GR86's until spring/summer.

I've had chances for deposit but no promises on color or trim so I didn't take it. Sounds like dealerships barely have any information. September is almost over so hopefully we get something soon.
