Scrubbing/sanding smears off of rotors and pads
 

I was just going to use a 220 grit sandblock and lightly dust the surfaces of the pads and the rotors in the back to get the crap off of them. Then spray them with brake cleaner afterwards. My backs are still at like 75% so I’m hoping I can use them a good bit more if I just get the glaze and rust off. Is that a bad idea? Are they just fine and I don’t need to worry about it?

I know my fronts are shot and I’m putting new pads on them and I’ll bed them in properly. I was thinking about just dusting the fronts as well or should I should leave it as is and just bed the pads in to the existing rotors? I’m hoping I can use the existing rotors because they feel just fine.

It is my understanding that bedding the brakes deposits pad material on the rotor. Switching to a different pad requires removing original bedded material from the rotor. I used a da sander with 80 grit and sanded enough so the surface was bright.
