GR86 ACTUAL 0-60 and Weight

3 Attachment(s)
Hey guys!

Just found an interesting post by Jason Cammisa. Hagerty somehow managed to get a hold of a few different GR86s for apparently several days. While there, they corner weighted the car and ran 0-60 times.

0-60 times:
Manual GR86, on the crappier Michelin Primacys. 2nd gear tops out at 59 mph so you have to shift to 3rd.

5.6 seconds with 1ft rollout, 5.9 without.

Weight:
2769lbs with 3/4 tank of gas. 55/45 weight distribution.

Overall I’m very pleased with the figures!

I wonder if trim level has differences in weight as well?

I’m sure it negligible. Only things I can tell that change are small items or ones that don’t necessarily weigh more.

Firstly, awesome info, great_stuff.

Secondly, if 2nd gear tops out at 59mph, More tire pressure might actually get you 1mph more @7400?

It’s about 20lbs if you compare the specs.

Out of curiosity then, in Hagerty's video, is he running the Primacy's the whole time I assume?

EDIT: I guess kind of a dumb question, I believe the answer is yes as I don't see a change in car or wheels at any point.

They may have been provided with a base car for longer testing - I assume that all the cars are pretty limited.

He is absolutely driving a premium car in the main video.

That and primacies don’t come in 18” sizes, so there’s no chance the premium is on primacies for some weird reason.

DId he aggressively launch it? Everyone quoting a 6.2 for the first gen car seems to think the C&D number is the "right" one because its the fastest quote number....and they did an aggressive launch to hit that figure.

Cuz the official time is like 6.1 or 6.2 for the second gen and the first gen is anywhere between 7.2 to 7.6 depending on who you ask.

Heck the official toyota press release says 7.2 for the old car and 6.3 for the new car.

I'm sure he is giving it some revs to launch which aint gonna destroy your tyranny :iono: I've been dumping my clutch at least once a week without any problems.. Either C&D or MT had achieved a 6 something with the first gen so I wouldn't really go by the reported figures by toyota/subaru.

Jason himself has a great video on different ways to measure 0–60:

I don't remember where, but I heard an opinion that Toyota is known
to not use aggressive clutch dumps when measuring 0–60, similar to
what Porsche is known for. Makes GR 86 indeed look like a Porsche, lol.

My 13 did 5.7 with hard launch after header and e85. Once I was satisfied my car was no longer a complete puke, my ego quieted down and I haven't tested it in a few yrs lol.

LOL

5.7 is good! Just out of curiosity, what did you use to test it?

I often wondered what I might have put down in my old boosted FRS, but I don't own a vbox or anything like that.

I used an app. I can't remember which one but I saw it used on youtoilet as well. It was pretty consistent.
