broken seat belt buckle
So today when I took my seat belt off a spring shot out of the buckle... yea
so I have to press the buckle release to plug in the seat belt.. not the end of the world.. but now the seat belt is not being detected. So I figured plugging in the buckle completed a circuit that the car detects and that cuts off the light... so I found the two wire going to the buckle and shorted them,, that didn't work... So I figured its probably a range of resistance its looking for, so I went to the passenger side (which works still) and found the same two wires, cut them and connected my ohm meter to the ones going to the buckle with the belt not plugged it reads OL (open) as expected, but when I plug the plug in it reads... OL.. so still open... what the hell.. so if it doesn't work off of resistance what does it work off of ? And yes At first I was just going to buy a new buckle, until i saw they were $120 each... |
Bubba suggests you go to the junk yard and get another one.
