Track Day: Upcoming Joey G Open Track Day for ADVANCED Drivers, Aug 20 NJMP Lightning
 

Just wanted to let everyone know about an advanced road race track day coming up Aug 20, there are a few slots left for Joey G's Open Track Day at NJMP Lightning.

No Run Groups
No Point Bys
8 Full Hours of Track Time

Professional Road Racer Aaron Povoledo will be there giving coaching lessons as well as a track walk. If you have never seen Aaron give a track walk, take a look at some video I made from the NJMP Thunderbolt event at http://youtube.com/azpinstalls He will help you find the magic curbing at Lightning as well! As a bonus they will be having a wet skidpad in the paddock as well!

I believe pricing is $399 for the day, I'm signed up and ready!

Yeah it appears no one is all that interested in real racing on this forum. Can't make it but are you required to have car logbooked by a sanction for this, or is it open to all safe cars?

Open to all safe cars, basically NASA HPDE rules for safety equipment. Skill level is far more important for one of the Joey G days. We often have ARCA Cars and ITC cars and Ferrari Challenge cars with us.

Aaron Poveledo is a great coach and his coaching is included free with the day.

This actually sounds like a pretty good deal for some major seat time. Too bad my A sedan camaro isn't quite race ready this week. Not that I could afford 8 hours of burning 110 at 4ish mpg right now anyways LOL

No worries, we are going to be doing this even more next year, so keep an eye out and sign up when you can. Looking to do some timing during the events next year as well.

I know its off topic, but has anyone tried the road course they built in Englishtown?

That "track" is a joke. At best it is a drift and go kart track. No runoff and not wide enough for real racing or DEing. :(

If you want to get into traking, check out http://nasane.com they hook you up with an instructor and 2 hrs of classroom instruction. Great program that we have been instructing for over 10 years with.

Thanks, I was just looking for an alternative. NJMP is like a 3 hour drive for me

If you get not this sport, NJMP is going to be one of the closest tracks you will go to. Pocono is also fairly close.

When I started, we drove up to Limerock Park, Pocono, Watkins Glen, Summit Point Raceway, VIR.

Heck, I drove down to NJMP from ft lee and back today for the event!

Once you get addicted, you will drive anywhere to do a track day. :)
