Wonder what's the penalty for breaking the embargo. Though technically it wasn't a driving review so it's not breaking the rules? Arguably same level of offense as taking photos/selfies of the drive days and posting on IG. Can't wait! Why isn't mon here already?!

It looked like they were going really slow maybe so the drone could keep up?

Also weird editing, the audio doesn't match the video. I am hearing tire squeal while they drive slow on the straight, and engine revs are all over the place compared to where they are on the track.

Car looks cool though. It is a good red.

Edit: It seems like the audio lines up until about the 2 minute mark.

A very small gloss black wrap that that just covered the lower front splitter - something that matched the black door mirrors.

Yeah the audio is not of the run shown. His gear changes don't match.

To my ear, it sounded like the opposite.

That might work with colors that give it a contrast but with the darker colors, don't think it's necessary.

Definitely Automatic. You can hear the shift @0:48 and he never touches the shifter.

I didn’t watch it, but normally embargoes mean you aren’t allowed to post an opinion about the car.

These embargoes are the dumbest thing ever. So you’ll let a journalist post videos about the car except for his impressions.

I believe the intention of this is to give every journalist a fair chance develop a coherent impression before posting the content online.

The day before Nissan’s Z reveal

It looks really good and aside from screeching around on the Primacys, seems to handle at least as well as the first gen.

On the one hand I'd love to trade to the 2nd gen and on the other there's Ohlins, full exhaust, HKS supercharger, wheel tire and brake upgrades and custom dyno tuning that significantly surpasses anything from the showroom.

I could trade my '18 STI for the upgrade model but that means winter car going from a 4dr awd to a 2dr rwd.

The 'headache' is for those people with a modded first gen that is already on par with the 2nd gen in terms of performance.

A stock first gen owner when comparing to the 2nd gen will most probably upgrade with ease as the 2nd gen is like a modded first gen with bolt ons.

I believe if you have invested a lot in the first gen already and have considerable power then it won't really be an upgrade. It will be mostly for looks and fresh car 'feeling'.

Sure, some stuff will carry over, like wheels and coilovers. But to achieve the same power as FI will need further investments as in supercharger/turbo plus tuning. The aftermarket will catch up eventually and in the mean time you will have to enjoy it in NA form.

Maybe its better to wait till all the bugs are ironed out and get later versions as its a different engine.

Check out 3:55 to 4:15, he comes around a corner and goes WOT down a straight, and a couple things stand out to me:

1. the smirk as he comes around the corner, lol

2. the engine noise sounds progressive as it goes up in revs (doesn't have an audible lag where the torque dip was in the 1st gen)

3. the look he gives the dash and the face he makes at the camera as he hits near the top of 3rd gear.

It's mainly #3 that is making me a little more excited for monday's reviews. He is not exactly "commenting" but that face says a lot. It looks to me like he is surprised at how hard the car is pulling, and I hope I am right about that. lol.

I met Jason Cammisa at Laguna Seca the other day and we had a nice chat about various cars.
When I asked if he drove the new BRZ, his eyes started shining with excitement and told me to wait for the Hagerty video on the 17th.

Cammisa + Hagerty have been killing it lately, lots of really good content on YouTube.

I don't think there is a headache. Many of those folks myself included have concluded, that it isn't worth the upgrade/debt. Modded paid off vehicles and all. The next performance vehicle personally would have to be a significant jump in capability. I'm almost old enough for a C7, no New Balances just Nikes.:D

I wonder if the journalist at the event could even talk to each other about their driving impressions. The cat is already out of the bag if you’re fluent in Japanese.

I am with you. Keep my DD 16 BRZ and put that money into other things. Making my 04 WRX faster or another car. I do want to drive one just to see, would love to drive one with bolt ons and a tune in the future, just to see. If I was up for a car it would be on the list for sure.

Often an embargo ends at 8am ET.

There will be another generation of modders on this final gen of the car for sure though. It will be interesting what headers, E85 and a tube get, its not exactly going to break the bank for that, and potentially put out similar levels to what the GR Yaris is stock (268hp at the crank)

I think it's the last one that has been announced at least. Maybe next-gen Mustang? In this class of car though I'm sure it is, especially if you want a manual and low weight.

From past experience it's usually in the morning ET. Maybe they are lifting it at noon ET to be fairer to the West Coasters - it's all about those clicks.

Yep, embargo lifts tomorrow not today. A few Youtubers confirmed it on Instagram.
