Seems like these cars will have a "break-in program" when new.

That's the only way I can explain the 2000 RPM warning on the 271KM old, fully warmed car in this video
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1o7n6yjnhxk [edit] Or I'm maybe just full of BS, another car later in the video has the same RPM warning but over 2500km on the clock. It's onscreen for only 14 frames though so yeah I missed it |
Probably a user-selectable shift light like the old car. Someone may have accidentally set it really low. 2000rpm is not a useful rev limit even during break in so that doesn’t really make sense.

Break in for a new engine with the correct oil change intervals and limited RPM and no cruise control is super important if you plan on keeping the car long term. With my IAG motor I had to stick to stringent oil changes for the warranty. 50 mi, 1,200 mi then 3,000 I think it was. The first 2 were their main push.
The rev limit was 3,500 for the first 500 mi. 2,000 is too low so I'm sure that was a mistake |
I edited my first post, there is a second, higher mileage car in the video with the same limit, but it's only visible for 14 frames so I missed it.
User selectable limit is a good idea but can it even be set that low in the old car? 2000 is aggressively low! It's either that or an eco mode reminder, like the tiny shit up arrow on the old gen 1 cluster. Coincidently, if I drive like a gentleman and obey that tiny, easily missed shift reminder, it usually keeps me under 2k too. |
I don't even drive around town under 2k rpm...
|
Maybe orange is supposed to indicate the "hoonigan zone", like, party at these RPMs for best effect . . . although 2K seems too low . . . but we haven't driven one yet!

i think the yellow is just an indicator of a safe shifting range. Green might be preferred but yellow renders better on a black background and is less likely to cause issues for those who have trouble differentiating colors. Have we seen a video of the car being redlined? There is probably a different indicator on the dash with an audible warning... or the whole line turns red.

I'm sorry you feel that way, but that in no way changes reality.

6th gear at 1500rpm? I don't think I've ever tried that. I don't think I ever will try it either.
