Pedal dance not working?

I'm having terrible activating pedal dance. No, I don't think this is user error, as I've done it many times on other 86s. The car in question is a 2013 FRS with the engine from a 2015 BRZ. The ECU was paired to the engine at Toyota.

When I complete the sequence, the two dash lights flash once, and pedal dance mode is not enabled. I've also tried Gerald just projects Trac box, and it's not enabling pd mode either.

Has anyone encounter this before? Any suggestions? I ran my last track day with 5 second hold, but I'd prefer to have the PD enabled properly.

What is a "pedal dance" mode? I thought it was a reference to the driver's skill of blipping the throttle when down shifting...

Is the car warmed up?

Good, one less thing for you to do. Now press/hold TC and focus on driving :)

Sounds like an ECU issue. Have you tried clearing all DTC's in memory? There might be something stored preventing this? All I can offer.

in early cars pre 2017 the TC was pretty aggressive. Pedal dance basically turns all nannies off the car is more predictable when pushing it vs with it on. Be warned you better know how to drive or you can spin the car very quickly in this mode. Its believed to be a diagnostic mode.

I've had trouble activating it with ecutek roms but not the way that you describe.

I think there's another problem to resolve first. I have a pedal dance box, and it doesn't work either (despite working earlier on a 2015 BRZ, and multiple rounds with the maker to test and confirm the issue is not the box).
