Timing Gear clicking?

Hey all,

I'm fairly new to cars in general and definitely new to the 86 platform. I recently got a 2013 Scion FR-S and I'm having a blast so far. But during the drive today I heard a clicking sound and I checked, so seems like my timing gear starts and stops per the video below. I really have no idea how serious this is, I assume that's not normal, haha.

Any advice is most appreciated, thank you!

If you are referring to the click sounds at 0:05 and 0:13, it's the ac compressor.. but that's too obvious. But other than that, I don't notice anything else

That's your AC compressor. It will kick on and off causing the compressor clutch to engage and disengage. What you're seeing is reassurance that the AC system is functioning normally. No worries everything sounds good to me.

Thank you! That's good to know and good for me to learn too.

Congrats on your car! Did you recently move to the US? I saw your join date and became curious. ;)

Thank you! I moved about 4 years ago, I joined this forum way back in 2011 'cos I always wanted a 86 and I was hoping to get one, but being in Singapore then, it was too cost prohibitive and there isn't much of a car culture in Singapore unless you're pretty rich, so the circumstances were never right until a few weeks ago when I finally managed to get one.

I was actually in Tokyo when they launched the car and I fell in love immediately.
