Anyone still driving there twin daily?
Even with new coils and a rather tame exhaust it can still be tiresome to drive the twins. I need a new daily but I really can't justify having 3 cars... What car would you replace the twins with that has 4 doors that's still fun to drive and is reliable on a track.

Neither is particularly reliable but e36m3 sedan and rx-8 are probably the closest matches. I love the e36m personally, especially the sound of the bmw straight 6. I’ve seen tons of them at the track so there must be ways to keep them reliable without breaking the bank. Luckily I’ve been able to make the FR-S 2+2 configuration work, but if I needed a lightweight trackable rwd sedan, I’d find the best condition e36m3 sedan I could find and do all the reliability upgrades on it.

sun or snow, still driving my car w smile on my face.
Anyways, if you want sedan car that's fun to drive, Giulia... if you can afford it. Next option CTR... but I wouldn't say nice to drive daily. |
I said years ago that I'll be buried in mine. Nothing's changed.

Hate to say it but I think I want to get a car with a DCT for next car. Something I can just drive but also enjoy on track

Bought mine as a daily
So its being used as a daily. I have an CUV at home for hauling stuff and if i dont want to be bothered with strapping the kiddo into the backseat without the baby seat base. (plus the rear facer takes up alot of horizontal real estate so front passenger space is somewhat uncomfortable and too upright in the 86 when we do use it for family hauling duties) Besides thats the wife's car. we share the cars but one belongs to her, the 86 belongs to me. :) |
Still my daily... but not driving as much as I used to.
|
Mine was my daily, then I got another daily, so she became a garage queen for a while. Sold that daily when I got my R32, so the FR-S became my daily again.
|
Currently in process of reverting mine back to a configuration that I can daily drive. Looking forward to it. :)

got a prius & rav4 in our stable and while sure both are miles more comfy and quieter, i'm still happily taking out the twin every chance we get :D
crazy to think about but combined with my 2013 + 2016, I already have almost 10 years of dding a twin |
i only take mine on roadtrips now. i don't like driving it unless i can for at least 2 hours minimum. usually will get lost for 4-6 hours.
but i enjoy driving it too much, so i avoid dedicating it to daily duties mostly to minimize 'life damage' a good thing is only good when you've got something else to remind you of why it's good in the first place, and that's where daily-ing something else comes in :) |

Too bumpy, no AC, too low. I don’t DD mine anymore. Still gets driven regularly, but everyday is a nah from me.

It's going to be a "retired" race car for now. :)
Still keeping all of the go fast parts, detune the engine for now. No crazy aero. Quote:

Wife has a Ford Flex for family hauler and it's paid off. I might debate getting a civic or Corolla for DD once the used market stops being stupid. I never owned more than 1 car in my life at a time

Anyone still driving there twin daily?
No worries to use often. Pretty comfy and has all that’s needed for me [emoji1360]

Ok, I tried to let it pass but I'm back at this thread a few hours after first reading it.
A mnemonic for those concerned: Here is from there. Heir is from their. |
Why are the people who bought a twin to daily in the minority? lol
|
My twin is my daily. I do need to purchase winter tires, because last season was not pleasant driving back home, even with 3 inches of snow on the road.
I do wish I had a beater to commute to work and rack less miles on the BRZ, but is a short drive so is not terrible. |

Its only uses are garage queen and taken to the track...... :bonk: |

Why is this even a question?

Yep, still my daily/winter/road trip/everything car for the past 7.5 years and ~147,000 kms (~91,000 miles). But will be driven less now due to working from home ever since COVID started. No more commuting to the office!
Surprised I'm still on my original TOB based on what I've read... |
It’s my summer toy,
A garage Queen If ya wanna call it that… Only sees some sun from April to November. Only 3 years old hardly used it last year. It needs another Oil change again which will be done tomorrow, 58K KM (or 36M) on the ODO just love pilling up the drives to nowhere. It does get to see tracks often - But only as a spectator.. Still Does what I intended it to do. Get me someplace else with some fun in between. :D |

you're also forgetting that you're asking a minority of a minority of people. there's always going to be a lot of people that buy and use a vehicle every day, but never even consider that there might be an internet forum for it |
It has been my daily but as you get older you want something more comfortable. I am at a point to where I could keep this car as weekend/track toy just not sure I want to have 3 cars.

Needs to be capable on the track. This out rules alot of options. My ideal option ATM is Hyundai veloster n, or a maybe a new GTI mk8 with dsg depending how well it does on the track but with the way prices are I am going to hang onto my car. This is long term planning.

Been my daily since 2012 and will be for the foreseeable future. I love this car.
Sure with coilovers, noisy brakes, no AC, terrible gas mileage, and near 500whp it isn't the most practical or luxurious choice but it still puts a smile on my face every time I leave work! Worth it :burnrubber: |

For me specifically, i'd swap it out for a Lexus IS500 :D |
An all-stock BRZ/FR-S is meant to be a daily driver. I switch to snow tires from Nov to March/April, and drive in all kinds of road conditions, except 4+" snow - then I'd work from home. In fact my car is my poor-weather vehicle. Motorcycle for everything else.

I had 3 cars while my BRZ was my daily. Both the others were much bigger with 4 doors. |
Going on 81,000km in a little over 3 years.
Most of the mods I've done have been daily friendly. The yellows/B6 is probably most noticeable but hardly stiff compared to coil setups I've felt. |
Daily. Or maybe semi fortnightly these days.
Still has the stupid sound tube (plugged at the firewall), but no oil leaks so not a lot of incentive to change things up. |
