Has anyone ever heard this sound on their ft86 (Strange Engine Noise *Video)
 

It was 40deg today in my city and I was doing a few practice launches on an empty road and on the 3rd pull I started hearing a strange rattle coming from the engine (driver side), it only seems to appear between 3000-4000 RPM. Could it be from the heat? Oil pressure? HeatShield Rattle? Valve?

It makes the same noise if it's idle or driving. Not sure if I should tow my car to shop or continue driving?

all that exterior work, and zero mechanical mods at all? not even an exhaust/headers?

have you checked your oil level, and exhaust connections yet?

I'd take a screwdriver and probe/listen for it.

Could be a worn throw out bearing.

Push the clutch in slightly in neutral sitting still, does the sound go away?

Did you ever figure this out ?

Does it happen at 3400rpm? If so, I believe it's the VVTi actuator not working. I have had a "death rattle" sound on my 2016 since 30k miles. I've been able to reduce how often it happens (I believe) by using 0W-30 oil but I've read you can actually fix it by replacing the "VVTi filter", or something like that. Just been too lazy to properly deal with it...
