I'm pretty sure it will get classed in CS, as it's basically an S2000 with a roof.
And back seats. And McPherson front suspension. I do both AutoX (STX) and 86DC (Street class). I'd be interested to try the more basic classes (CS and Stock respectively), but unfortunately 86DC Stock doesn't allow changing springs or dampers or bars, which puts me at a disadvantage in CS. At the same time, even maxing out what's allowed in CS will put me at a disadvantage in the 86DC Street class, and I prefer my cars lowered, so perhaps I'll just do STX. Or is it going to be STR? 86DC is more of a priority for me than AutoX, so I can sacrifice some. However, I still have no idea how 86DC will update the classes for the 2nd gen, and I don't even know how many participants are going to get 2nd gens. It's possible that there won't be a Stock class for the 2nd gens. |
If I bought one, I'd prep it for STX.
...but I'm really hoping and praying the new cars don't get classed for at least another year. Between COVID last year and supply chain this year, my STX build has sort of been a bomb. I'll be upset if I don't get a full season from it. |
I dont see myself upgrading to G2
if I didnt have 86/BRZ previously then yes |
Probably what I did when I had my '15.
The widest wheel and sticky tires that will fit with out messing with the fenders. Cat-back Quality coilovers Flex fuel tune |
It all depends on what the new engine actually feels like....
If it really doesn't need any more power, I'd just get 245's on all 4 corners and mildly stiffer sway bars to reduce the body roll from the improved grip. If it does need little more power I'd do headers and a tune. Maybe E85 on at least one of the maps. If it needs a lot more power then I'll have to assess the F.I. options that will be out. I am optimistic that is not going to be necessary, that's the point of more displacement right? |
I think it gets put in CS mostly because of 7.5" wide wheels. I think it'll be a huge underdog there, and a small underdog if it goes to DS.
And I'm not sure if they'll put it in STX yet or not. My guess is STR which really sucks because it'll get crushed there, but would likely end up being the dominant car in STX. The first gens can flood SSC and still have a place to play so my vote is STX, but unfortunately I don't get a vote lol. Mine will definitely be a pretty maxed out STX/STR build for a few months before I slap a supercharger and aero on it. |
First day Plans for the new BRZ: pick up two hookers, crash into a tree or fly off a guard rail into a ravine.

Or will it be BSP? |
It belongs in DS if you ask me, and probably still loose to the CTR.
I hope it goes to STX, but it would make more sense to go to STU for a year then STX. Knowing me, I will probably build it for ST. |

And it'll go STR before STU. But agree that it should go STX. Either way, XSA for me because I'm a glutton for punishment and outside of Packwood, sites out here suck. I miss 2015 Midwest autocross with three huge concrete sites within 2.5 hours. |
Garage is filling up with parts ready to go on when the car gets here. Wheels/tires ready to go, and just ordered MCS coilovers. Hoping I can verify front bars are the same shortly so I can get a Karcepts bar on the way. Rear bar actually looks the same, it's the bushings that are mounted differently, but need to verify this as well.
It'll be a fun first weekend for the car when it arrives. Livery and window tint, detailing, coilovers and wheels then alignment. Then out to Rocky Point and the coast to start breaking it in on some awesome roads. |
Finding out how to order the center console piece for the automatic, to get the extra cupholder.
|
If it fits, I'll get you part numbers when the EPC loads '22 parts.
