Plans for your new BRZ?
Been quite some time since I've been around here. After having three different first gen cars, I'm currently twins-less and rocking a 2020 STI, but will be selling it to order a new BRZ the day orders open up.
Anyone have specific plans for theirs? This will be the first time I go crazy on modifying a car. Already have the ok from the wife to do whatever I want to it, so looking to build a car for time attack and let it slot into XSA for autocross. I'm waiting to see more documentation on parts, but fingers crossed this motor has the same internals as the current FA24 turbo. Will end up supercharging this car and putting it on flex fuel with larger injectors and a better pump, and hoping it can make 350-400 at the wheels somewhat reliably. Will put a built block in it if needed. From there. MCS 2-way remote coilovers, Zebulon aero, brakes if no brembo package is offered... Two biggest unknowns right now: -Do I go WRB with the bright yellow rally car star cluster livery, or stick with my typical favorite white car and black wheel combo -Will the wife's "do whatever you want" stance go away when she sees fender flares and a cutoff wheel coming out? Anyways, anyone have plans for a new one outside of daily and/or track days? |

I'm looking for a fun daily driver that is reliable overall.

With the torque dip being fixed, I honestly don't see myself doing anything besides maybe a catback. Ready to just have a stock car I don't have to worry about scraping, tune, etc that's still simple and fun with a MT.
The difficult thing for me is choosing between a red GR86 and a gray BRZ |

May at most consider the STI muffler for something sensible and be a keeper. In an interview with one of the developers/engineers (via auto-translate), they were stating this was their pinnacle for the NA boxer engine. Not a bad way to sign off the era of NA ICE. |
Eh, I'd probably still do headers and a catback and probably a flex fuel kit too.

I will reserve judgement until I drive one. But I have a feeling everyone will still complain it’s slow. Just knowing how people are. I will likely not get one unless my trade in was phenomenal.

Our first Gen cars with headers and correct tune will probably be close in performance. Once the same is done to G2 cars there will be no comparison

Before warranty is up:
- Move my RCE T2 coilovers over (assuming they bolt on) - Track alignment - Move my Wilwood BBK over (assuming I don't buy the PP) - Move my wheels/tires over (assuming 5x100) - Oil cooler After warranty: - E85 tune if it's easy to do as the first gen |
It will be my summer daily driver, maybe some autox. I haven't done it before but have wanted to. It doesn't look like there will be a performance package option, so I will likely brembo swap it myself.

I'm looking forward to Street Class autox, and hoping it gets classed in DS so we can reclaim that class for the lightweight sportscars!
My 2015 will stay in STX and once it isn't competitive there, it will become a purely fun/track-day car. I'm waiting for factory Brembos and 7.5" wheels. Then I'll get: - The lightest wheels possible within reason, with the minimum allowed offset. - The most competitive 200TW tire available at the time. - Probably Koni Sport adjustable dampers. - One sway bar (probably rear for a GR86 or front for a BRZ) - A lighter exhaust, but not annoyingly loud on the highway. - Whatever tricks I can do to get more camber, within the rules. - A good alignment. Other than that I'm going to just have fun and enjoy the seat time. Prepping my car for STX has been a journey, and one I'm glad I'm on (almost done...). But I do miss the simplicity of Street class, where you only have dampers and tire pressures to play with. STX has so many setup options it is hard to know what to chase next. Not to mention the cost of building a competitive STX car is $10k+. |
