What I run. $50. I don't see the point in spending hundreds on generic struts with a company logo slapped on it.

I never had an issue with the OEM rod, but If you must, Grimmspeed. They’re the only ones that considered reinforcing the hood in bending, since it wasn’t designed to be loaded that way.

I have the GrimSpeed struts. When you install them (or any) I advise installing the left one first if you are doing it yourself. For some reason when I tried installing the right one first I couldn't clear the strut tower without forcing it. If you have an extra set of hands it will also make it easier.

I recently installed Grimmspeed too & it's a better than the carbon hood dampers I had on my FRS. Grimmspeed allows the hood to let gravity do its job to close it when it's at about 15 deg whereas the carbon one had to pushed all the way down in order to close.

I also recently installed the Grimmspeed hood struts and the opening and closing operation is very natural - albeit it opens a bit strong once it reaches the top if I let it go.

Most cheap kits and DIY people just get generic brackets and bolt them up to the closest hole on the hood. It's not that simple. There is actual physics involved and Grimmspeed has done the engineering to calculate the correct angles and loads for their own custom brackets to ensure reliable opening and closing of the hood.

I love my Grimmspeed struts as well. Car should have come with them from the factory.

are the grimmspeed ones okay with a CF hood. I will be getting one in a year or so and dont want any mishaps.

I don't see why they wouldn't be, as long as the weight of the CF hood isn't hugely different.
