Supercharger oil
Just bought an HKS supercharger. Installer went through entire bottle of supercharger oil on installation. I understand this stuff is quite expensive, like $265/800ml. Are there alternatives from other manufacturers like Kraftwerks, Jackson Racing, etc.
Other companies put these type of drive systems together as well. But not sure how to compare the fluids. I see some stuff on Jegs site by Paxton approved for Vortech. For same 800ml fill amount, I'd be spending the same money. Wondering if these fluids are similar enough, like some oils, to work. My gut tells me I'll be ponying up for a new HKS bottle. |
I would say for the complexity of a supercharger, stick only with what they provide as a solution for their hardware.

Some research on Jeg's and other sites have it all running about the same price for the 800ml option I have to compare against, namely Vortech. I'll stick with the HKS fluid, just wish they had small bottles for topping/maintaining instead of only "here's enough for full service exchange.
Actually, did more digging, this is Rotrex traction oil, simple as that. It's used by traction drive SC manufacturers like Jackson and Kraftwerks. Vortech brands their own, but the label states it can be used in the same type of drives. |
