Painting interior trim pieces

After looking at all the money to replace the silver trim parts in my 86, i want to know what the best way to paint them is?

Ive seen on you tube about the best paint that sticks well without rubbing off to easy is the duplicolor vinyl and fabric paint. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I want a high gloss black on the silver trim parts.

I sanded mine lightly and spray painted. They look fine. I used painter's tape to make the red ring.
Edit: I used flat black krylon on the radio trim, and plastidip on the trim ring for durability. The Duplicolor vinyl is amazing, but is matte like mine.

go on ebay, and get replacement trim pieces--usually a fraction of the cost of oem. then paint those pieces so if anything happens, you're not hosed on your originals.

rule #1 of serious modding, never mod the originals.

I feel this way with older cars that aren't in production, not such much a car that can be bought new. Still sound advice.
See what I did there?

Yea just buy a wrap and do it, cheaper, less hassle and probably more enjoyable to do, not to mention reversible

It's the $26 Duracon Tomei shift knob, it's great, but it weighs almost nothing so don't expect something heavy if you get it!
