Parts store brake fluid DOT3+

yup, cheap DOT3 fluid. It's less hygroscopic and it doesn't have to put up with a lot of heat, so no reason for expensive fluid.

brake fluid.

Never has my avatar made more sense for me than this moment, I've had my car for a year and been driving manual for years and never knew my car had a clutch reservoir or that you needed to replace for that matter. I'm a fckn noob.

Whatever brake fluid is left from a bleed.

No real need to replace unless it’s full of deteriorated rubber and in that case you probably have a bad master cylinder which requires you to open the system to replace which means you have to bleed the system which means you will be swapping most of it anyways so you may as well flush it all out while you are at it. Is that a run on sentence?

i just try to follow the recommended service intervals. the manual says to replace the brake fluid at 30k, so i replaced both from the same bottle..

I changed mine out with Prestone DOT4 at around the 8 year mark. Came out dirty but no appreciable difference in feel.

Thanks to all that responded.

FWIW I occasionally use a syringe to empty the clutch reservoir and fill with fresh DOT4 when I bleed brakes. Figure over time I'm effectively refreshing the fluid without actually having to bleed the clutch...
