Everything is Out of Stock
Stupid and long story short: The other night after concluding a really non-eventful skateboarding hangout with a few friends, a buddy and I decided to *maybe* do a drag launch on a *definitely* closed road. I've had my BRZ since September of 2020 and it's my first stick car, so my launches aren't legendary. My clutch was already going out, and I got the car at 88k with the TOB noise just starting to manifest. At 99.3k miles right now and the BRZ is now on jackstands waiting for the Exedy OEM replacement kit.
I wanted to go for the stage 1 kit from Exedy, but it's out of stock. I wanted to go for a lightweight Chromoly flywheel, but it was out of stock. While I was already yanking stuff apart, I figured it'd be time to ditch the stock headers and pick up an OFT, but all of the affordable UEL catless (Tomei, Invidia, etc) headers are out of stock. ALL OF THE ACT LIGHTWEIGHT FLYWHEEL INCLUDED KITS ARE OUT OF STOCK TOO! Just writing this thread to complain mostly. Does anyone know why everything is out of stock all of a sudden? |
I know you are in Florida so maybe haven't heard the news but we are over a year into a worldwide pandemic.
Many places have shut down completely. Materials shortages are ravaging the OEM auto industry much less the aftermarket. The impact of the shortages in electronics, resins (for plastic) and metals is just starting to be felt. The impact is real and will get worse before it gets better. It sucks but that is why you can't find parts right now. |

To add insult to injury, some aftermarket suppliers are hesitant to stock/sell anything that isn't cosmetic, out of fear that the EPA is going to find a way to strike them down. This is much less likely the reason, but it could be contributing

Headers are tricky because most of the times distributors put the order directly from the manufacturer so they can make it from scratch. That was the case with my JDL UEL. Took a while because of the component shortages. For everything else you could check out Nengun and get your parts straight from japan because JDM yo. The Exedy flywheel seems to be in pre-order on 86speed which is no that bad, they are pretty good at fulfilling their orders on time. my HKS Catback was not scheduled to arrive until maybe July, somehow they managed to get it to me last week. So I would take a shot with them. |
Theres a pandemic?

Weird. It is almost like there is a global pandemic causing worker shortages.

Fancy fancy. Nengun has it and it ships in 12 days after payment, usually, that is. |

Understandable, I haven't heard anything about my hangers yet, but from what I read on the other thread about them it takes quite a bit, I'm guessing because no one ever ordered them and now suddenly everyone wants one. |
