Ran into an issue with the 2.5" overpipe contacting the subframe, so I swapped back to the gruppe-s OP until that's sorted.

Had a end of year cruise with our local 86 club.
Covered around 150-200km of windy back roads. Car ran great all day on a mostly finished tune. Swapped keys for a bit with a twin owner who brought his E36 M3 that day.

Had the car in the shop over the weekend to finalize fitment on the 2.5" OP.
They let me bolt up a 2.5" unresonated catback they took off their shop car. No Audio clips but it sounded rowdy. Not enough to sway me from the OEM catback.

Nice! What are you going to do with the gruppe-s OP?

I sold it over the weekend. I had a buyer lined up who purchased my old header/tune setup as a package.

RToyo86 11-12-2022 09:44 PM

Finished up tuning with 91 octane this week. 94 map is already finished. Very happy with the end result!

The torque curve feels completely flat on 94 octane. Handed the keys over to a couple friends as they were curious.

91 octane tune also feels great but back to back you can tell the 91 tune doesn't quite flatten mid range near as well. My butt feels a surge in power @5000rpm vs 94 octane the car has a consistent shove the entire way.

Cars now in winter mode. I swapped over to the OEM muffler, and sold the fujistubo.

Couldn't escape BF. Raceseng had a sale plus theyre liquidating this model. Circuit sphere 100. Since this model is modular I also ordered the
cylinder grip to have try as well.

Picked up a set of wheels.
RPF1s 18x8 +35.

A friend sold his tS and mave me an offer I couldn't refuse. Ordered some center caps for the spring.

RPF1s are those wheels where I was like "I can't get those, everyone has them" and yet they are undeniably one of my favorites and wish I had just gone for it. They are going to look spicy, nice pickup!!

I know what you mean. In a ideal world I prefer the Subtle difference in spoke design on the wider wheels.

Considering having them powder coated gunmetal Grey, or maybe a dark satin bronze.

I think a lot of people have them online but in real life when I see an 86 with aftermarket wheels they are a couple steps below RPF1s...

RFP1's are the the Miata of the wheel world when some asks for affordable, strong wheels for the daily/track card

Immediate impressions were great. Living with it a while shifts are smooth. The combination of added height, and weight masks some of the crunchy feel during shifts.

Most importantly I can still finger tip shift when I cruise in traffic.

Winter has finally decided to settle down and melt most of that nasty white stuff.
Brakes started sticking pretty badly in the front just before I went on vacation, today I was able to take a look.. not exactly what I was expecting to find

3 Canadian winters was to much for the shims on the stoptechs, which caused pads to wear unevenly.

Tossed on spare OEM pads all around and ordered hawk HPS 5.0. Could not resist swapping on summer setup, weather looks like it should hold out.

Placed an order via Blackhawkjapan. Haven't decided whether I want to tackle the engine mounts on stands or pay a shop to do it. Trans mount is simple enough.

I just installed all these. Was a nice upgrade as for install I paid 200euro for my local Toyota dealer to do them. Mostly cause I didn't want to remove my header lol. Trans was simple enough I didn't even remove the front pipe

I saw a tutorial that would allow me to keep the JDL header on but it looks like would be a PITA on Jack stands .
Did you notice an improvement in how smooth the driveline feels?

Ah you have JDL header I am stock so it has to come out lol.

I wrote a small review about them in my build thread but short answer is yes. Was happy I spent the money to get mounts.

Are the engine mounts the same as the STI, just branded differently?

Looking forward to that before/after first drive. Noticing more slop in the drivetrain lately, could just be me i guess it'll never feel as tight as the day I bought it unless I replace all the rubber

From my understanding yes, but cannot confirm 100%. Read somewhere that they're stamped Subaru parts. I will take some detailed photos once I have them in my hands.

I can tell you now that the stock motor mounts in my toyota say subaru on them lol. I would be shocked if toyota made the TRD ones

Having called around for various parts over the years I've noticed Toyota will slap their own sticker on a Subaru package/box then charge 10--30% less than Subaru for the same parts

Little bit of spring maintenance and cleaning.
Changed oil, quick engine bay wash, then listed my old wheels for sale. Already pending sale to local twin owner.

There's a post buried somewhere with a good right up.

Pull the two bolts holding the slave on-top of the transmission and move it a little, the rubber boot comes off to show the fork going to the clutch.
Take a finger worth of grease and reach down and Dab around around the pivot joint.

Should only take about 15 minutes.

RToyo86 04-22-2023 12:10 PM

Did pads and rotors all around; took a minute to properly clean up the wheels.

Ordered some odds and ends for the drivetrain. Exedy OEM clutch+flywheel, OEM flywheel bolts and battle garage TOB kit with versus fork and pivot.

Car has 125,000km which is in TOB goes boom territory..

RToyo86 04-25-2023 07:50 PM

These shipped blazingly fast or they forgot to send me the tracking info. Got a notification yesterday a shipping label was created in Japan; today they're on my doorstep.
Took some detailed photos for anyone Curious. Also confirms these are likely the same STi mounts based on the stamped Subaru badging on the rubber.

Curious to hear your impression between the current bushing inserts you have and the full replacement.

RToyo86 04-27-2023 10:54 PM

Not a great picture.. but
https://i.imgur.com/icZ9LM9.jpeg

Installed TRD engine and trans mounts. Was fortunate a friend lent me his lift; took me around 2 hours to do everything. Driverside mount was the most PITA but I did it kevinvo method without removing the header.

Only immediate intial impressions but I am quite pleased with lessened slop and NVH actually dropped after pulling out the OEM trans mount with whiteline insert.

I was getting weird IAM drops with my tune around 3000RPM under harder throttle in 5-6th gear with the whiteline insert. Need to do further logging/monitoring but that issue seems to be gone now.

Gentle driving is less jerky with changes to throttle Inputs, the shifter also doesn't wooble around as much.
