Frustrated, pissed-off, tired of waiting for an FR-S
When the rumors started in 2009 I decided to wait for this car, bought a dam new Yaris to hold me over as I needed a new car at the time.
I've been calling all 5 dealers within a 50 mile radius since June. Same story we only get a couple a month. I'll take anything but an auto or Firestorm (the bright red pull me over color.) When you work 70 hrs a week you don't have time to camp out at the dealer or drive to friggin Maine. Now the dealers are basically saying to just buy a Tc as the 2013 MY is basically sold out, none of them around here expect more than 2 per month. Basically been waiting for 4 years for this car and it materializes to be a marketing ploy to generate "enthusiam" for the Scion brand, get people in the dealer, but not sell you one for MSRP. Switch and bait you to a tC. Most of the cars being sold at this point are going to "investors" who turn them around for MSRP+$4k. A Miata looks better and better by the day, but god I hate rag-tops. |
It just plain sucks that the dealers in your area won't sell for MSRP. All I can say is that given a little bit of time, the excitement will die down and they'll have them in-stock and ready to go like any other car.

Meh, what's one more year? I've always planned on 18 months after release.

look at cars.com or autotrader and call every dealer that has one to see if they will sell it at msrp. I ended up getting mine from montana.

BRZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

Actually, there's at least four cars to look for, test drive and think about if you are sick of waiting, and they are all within 3-5 grand of one another.
In order of similarity to the FR-S and closeness of cost: 1. BRZ -- obvious 2nd choice 2. Miata -- obvious 3rd choice 3. Genesis 2.0T -- reasonable 4th choice 4. 370Z (catch: Might have to try out low mileage 2010 or end of year 2011 to get a good deal) -- but very reasonable 5th choice. Actually, a 2012 is even do-able -- they just had a refresh, so the price might have come down on the pre-facelift models. Worth considering if you have 25-29K to spend. Anyway, I'd take a day or two, and do some test driving. You may come away deciding on a different car... |
If your willing to look far. My salesguy Carlos at Findlay Toyota seems to have an endless supply of Frs. Let him know I sent you and he will probably get you one asap. The dealership is in Vegas and he did recently get a shipment in.

I'm thinking about jumping ship to an FRS because my BRZ is taking forever then I realize if I waited this long I can wait a bit longer more. It's not like my life is centered upon a materialistic item.

I'm in south Texas right now and the closest to seeing an FR-S is a 6 week wait within 200 miles of here in Corpus. |
Tons of BRZs in CT
