Difference in budget vs mid range subwoofers?
Sonicelectronix is having a sale on select subs + free enclosures, so I'm choosing between the JL 10W0V3 ($140) and the JL 10W3V3 ($300) to upgrade over my old Kicker CVR. I was wondering what the difference in sound quality can provide me by going with the more expensive option? Particularly I'm looking for cleaner, more lower end and a flatter response.
Figured I'd ask here since the car audio forums have larger vehicles or are going for competitive loudness. For our small cars, we don't need much. So having either sub I'd still run it at regular listening volumes, 300w rms amp, despite the w3 model having more power handling. In other words, without needing the extra power handling, will a more expensive sub (specifically between these options) provide me much gain/bang for buck if I'm going for sound quality? Thanks. |
generally speaking, lower end subs tend to run a little 'looser' where they tend to prioritize output volume over clarity.

i would think the W3V3 would perform better over the W0V3 - also soundman98 is right - the cheaper ones would pump out volume to make you think it sounds better . but the higher end actually focus on the acoustics and sound levels and etc.
