@NIKDENG, yeah, probably.. pero the numbers are quite disappointing lang considering putting an aftermarket filter will give you the same amount of gains compared to changing the whole intake system, quite weird lol thats why i do hope that there would also be numbers regarding torque so as to see the gains as well.. i'm assuming there might be more of a difference there compared to aftermarket drop-in filters

Hi guys,
deciding on which rear spoiler to get,
5-axis or TRD?

both should be avail locally.

@hanstperez,

The price of your aero wing from the casa is actually 65,000 pesos. They sell for 35k to 40k second hand. Taiwan made replica TRD ducktails only cost 15,000 pesos painted and installed and second hand ones go as low as 5k. The quality of of the replica TRD ducktails are way-off the original TRDs in terms of fit and finish. I used to have the replica but got so frustrated as the adhesive would slowly peel off especially when they got wet that I eventually got the original one. A better swap will be with a trunk with an original TRD wing as this costs 31k from the casa + cash.

Noted. I wont make the trade then. Thank you for this.

@pcuerpo,

Yes, I felt the same disappointment with the aftermarket air-intake systems. Some even loose power when you put them on. None of them make any torque even worth bothering with. They are for generating engine noise more than anything else but somehow the sound gets annoying at cruising speed. That's why I took mine off and went back to stock with a drop-in HKS filter. To make to most out of these aftermarket intakes would require an ECU tune and even with tuning the gains are really not significant. That's why a quick scan of the ads will show a lot of secondhand aftermarket intake systems for sale. Looks like Toyota and Subaru did their homeworks when they designed the stock intake system.

A lot of us will try to squeeze as much power from the car by putting headers, full exhaust systems, ecu tuning, lightened driveshaft, and intake systems but the most we can get for a NA setup is just close to 200whp. By the time we are done, we will have spent close to the price of a turbo or supercharger which would be the better and guaranteed options for generating more power for these cars.

@gpac,

The 5-axis would be an easier install for the BRZ since you don't have to remove and relocate the Subaru and BRZ emblems on the trunk which is required if you go with the TRD. However, the 5-axis rear spoiler is harder to source locally and is usually by order only with a long waiting time. Both would look good on your car.

personally i prefer the five axis ducktail over the trd one since brz e para hindi 'poser'-ish.

the five axis ducktail is available locally? which shop has it in stock? i've been looking for that ducktail for almost 2 months, yet most shops are still "shipping" it even if 2 months have already passed :mad0260:

still "shipping" after two months that only means nothing wil arrive in our native land. by sea it will only take 37-45 days for your shipment to arrive. well if you have the moolah, 2-3 working days by air. try to search on ebay, you might get a better deal

what gas are you using? if you're using v-power racing, try switching to blaze. some members have experienced it too and when they switched to blaze, the cricket sound disappeared.

@Ojokik,

I agree with @dagame, switch to Petron Blaze and your cricket sounds should disappear after all your old fuel has been used up. The reason for the cricket sound is that our injectors do not like fuels with ethanol content which all gasoline blends have except for Petron Blaze which is the only non E10 fuel left. Gasoline with ethanol content and low octane rating are the primary cause for the cricket sounds and the direct injection failures for our cars.

@NIKDENG and dagame

Thanks so much for the info. Will do that after my next fill-up. I just need to consume first almost a half tank of v-power. :thanks:
