spcmafia 18 BRZ
Figured I might make a journal at this point before it becomes a bit difficult remembering what mods I have installed.
Let me get you all to speed about the journey. My first car used to be a Mazda 3, 2013 iGT 2.0. Great car, amazing gas mileage, handling, but lacking severely on power. April of 2020 is when I decided to pull the trigger and traded it on Carvana for the BRZ. Ever since I had a memory, I have been a car enthusiast but it was always watching from the background type of love for cars. The only place I could fantasize about the dream build was playing Need for Speed. Which is for some of us the only place where we can afford all the car parts we would like. Purchasing the BRZ, though is no R32, M3 E30, Silvia, is a good first step. Something that has helped on this journey is, I guess, my ability to pick up rather quickly on mechanic skills. So far, every single modification on the vehicle I have been able to install myself, it is the only way to learn. So far, I could not be more satisfied with this car, even though the boss lady does not fully embrace it, yet. Current Mod list: Engine/Transmission/Exhaust
Just like modifications, I have performed all vehicle maintenance, except for tire rotation/alignment/balancing.
Under my ownership, this vehicle has not seen a single drive in car wash that uses brushes. I have been using touchless washes for the winter season.

The next project is looking like better wheels and tires. Very excited about tracking the car at least one time. Originally my goal was to just showcase the car since, remember, you don't track the daily.

Thanks man! |
Super clean looking despite the monster truck wheel gaps.
This is why I don't have a build thread, my car is a shitbox. |

Don't remind me about those gaps haha. I don't think I could lower that car anymore because of how awful roads are where I live. I settled with at least having the tires flush to the body lines with the spacers. |

I feel is only right to report this on the journal because I consider myself an honest person. I'm using this journal as a tool to record every modification/event this vehicle has partaken into for future plans such as a sale. Friday, March 12, 2021, my vehicle was damaged by a truck on the parking lot of my workplace. As what you can see on the photos below, the damage was pretty much the front bumper cover, with a small indent on the driver side front fender. The guy and his truck managed to clip the bumper just right with what I assume is tire or rear sensors, ripping the whole front bumper assembly. It can also be observed that the structural integrity of the car was untouched, by this I mean the front bash bar and frame. These vehicles have a fitting issue with the front bumper, so if anything, this comes as a blessing in disguise since a new bumper will mean new bumper clips and all pieces involved. Is just one of those things that as much as it sucks, at least it can be considered that things could've been much worse. I will update once the vehicle is out of the shop.
|
Initial estimate just came in. Should have the vehicle back on 3-25-2021. Came to about $1600 in repairs. Front Bumper is getting replaced, Driver side markers, and driver side front fender. I'm hoping the shop can salvage my front lip, even thought it's cheap, it's a pain to install and I'm not looking forward to that again.

Decided to order a few things while the vehicle is on the shop. HKS HI-power Spec-L Burnt Tips catback. and AVID1 AV20 17x8 +35mm wheels. Will post pictures when both are installed. Will be selling my NVIDIA Q300 Catback once the new catback is in.

Wheels are in! Avid1 AV20s 17s. The spacers might be a little too wide now but I’m digging the new look.

Thanks! Those were actually very cheap from amazon. Aishun Dtouch Racing Side window louvers. I must note that I lightly sanded and painted them prior to installation. |

https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...14f3049894.jpg HKS Hi Power Spec -L is in!! Came in way before ETA. I’ll upload a cold start and warm sound. So far it sounds amazing. Pairs excellent with the double resonated FP. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
What is the purpose of the gold post extending down from the body?
Edit: I'm guessing it's the rear bash bar mentioned in your original post. Are those things supposed to be effective? If so, against what? |

The rims look amazing!

Thanks! I got them on sale on fitment industries. Pretty good quality, light too. |
Oil Changed performed at 26385 miles. Used Motul 0W-20. OEM Filter.
|
It's been a while, but for the meantime, no more modifications other than regular maintenance items being performed.
Installed new tires: Michellin Pilot Sports A/S 4 225/45R17. |
Oil Change performed at 31090 miles. OEM Filter with Castrol Edge 0W-20 Full Synthetic.
|
Finished the PC build, now back to the BRZ. Ordered a Racesend Sphereology Shift knob. Black Delrin, polished interior with engraving. They are 30% off so I couldn't miss out on it.
Probably going to update the side lip kit, but do it right this time. They need to be painted to prevent the fading mine have been subjected to. Thinking maybe an off-brand STi style side lips. |

Delrin is an amazing material. I first learned about it with PC watercooling, Dangerden used it in some of their waterblocks and it was amazing. I love Delrin in a shift knob as well, I have always wanted to get a super expensive shift knob to see what it was like! I have the Tomei duracon knob and I find it hard to beat. It's tempting to get one of these knobs just to have |

I miss the joy of waiting/receiving car parts. For now, my only joy is hitting the oil change intervals and using the Fumoto valve.
Oil Change performed, 37K miles, Castrol Full Synthetic 0W-20. I have officially put 20K miles into the vehicle in exactly two years of ownership! |
