WTB List 13’ BRZ

Gooooood Morning!

I am looking to buy some parts for my BRZ. I need the following parts, or leads on best places or people (vendors) to buy from.

Long story long, my car will be a weekend fun car, and rarely, if ever, driven daily. Put away for winter, and tracked a couple times during the summer. I also don’t want a crazy loud exhaust. I have a neighbor who comes home at 3am with his ridiculous UEL WRX and gets the cops called on him all the time with his crackle pop tune (I don’t want to be that guy lol)

wheels will be TC105X 17x9+35
Tires will be Continental extreme contact sports 255/40/17

The following is stuff I still need to buy:

-ACE Equal Length Header (or recommendations?)
-mid pipe and catback recommendations? (Again not stupid loud)
-Front Lower control arms (recommendations?)
-should i buy energy suspension bushing kit?
-diff bushings
-strut hats (KYB struts, eibach sportline pro springs)
-K&N cold air intake

Anything else you guys recommend? Thanks for any input too!

Are you sure you want Front LCA vs Rear LCA

you can do all that, but if the goal is a fun car, you’re over thinking it.
K&N drop-in filter
Delicious (or comparable) Flex-Fuel sensor and tune to run e85
Bilstein B6 struts w/ either stock springs or RCE Yellow’s for a little drop, or RCE Super Street coil overs if you want adjustability

This short list of mods seem to be the most recommended across the forum to give the best return for the money.

Other frequently recommended:
Remove the helper spring on the clutch pedal (free) to improve clutch feel.
Change out the trans fluid for Motul or Redline (seem to be the two most recommended) to improve gear engagement
MTec shifter springs to improve shifter feel

Probably both. But the front ones need to be replaced. Stocks are worn out.

Yeah, like one of the guys mentioned, are you sure this is everything that you want? Or is this all the stuff you have imagined yourself getting just because you've read a little about the car and learned about the good stuff that's out there.

Unless you are set on it because you have experience with this setup or have track or auto-x purposes for it and know what you're doing, I'd say do a little more research on it.

First thing you'll want on the list is wheels/tires, and if you do enough research and reading, you'll find that the setup you're interested in is far too wide for most applications (unless you are doing some serious forced induction). Especially when it comes to tracking, you'd prefer lighter wheels and smaller but grippier tires.

Header - ACE is getting more expensive, so that is your decision to make (I do own one and bought it new), but you're better off either getting a used or going JDL EL at this point - providing similar gains.

Midpipe - Do some research as I never changed mine out. Too loud if you remove both cats, you'll sound like an earthquake who is going as fast as the civic next to you. But if your main purpose it tracking, maybe you don't care. In which case, I'd read about it a little in the Engine, Exhaust, Transmission thread.

Catback - Invidia Q300 and CSG Touring 86 have proven to be some of the quietest cat-backs. I went with CSG, as it was also designed with reliability in mind. It has been proven to do well on track, and is as quiet as you'll get pretty much.

Control Arms - You probably meant rear. When you lower the car, the rear gains a heavy amount of camber (up to around -3 at times, depending on how low). You want your front camber to be more than your rear for retaining good balance and grip - especially on track.

Most of any kind of bushings - Add a lot of NVH, and makes it an annoying car to DD. If that doesn't bother you, since you're focused more on tracking, then I'd read in the suspension thread. There's a lot of mixed reviews on all of them, but generally any of the good brand bushings will do the trick. Whiteline, Perrin, etc. If you hate the NVH, STI bushings are a better way to go.

Strut hats - Also add plenty of vibration. I would look at what Racecomp and CSG offer. Read about it in the suspension thread, there are many opinions and options. EDIT - I missed that you may have meant springs and struts/shocks as well. Take a look at Racecomp and CSG for those as well, they offer great stuff for a good value.

K&N CAI - Better off with a drop in filter. If you want a good CAI, Grimmspeed is one of the better ones out there, but any of them will do a great job. A tune will be required for just about any CAI other than Grimmspeed.

Based on some of your wording and things you want, my assumption is you don't have much experience with this platform yet (not trying to misjudge though, so I apologize in advance if that's an incorrect assumption). I'd highly recommend you do a good bit of reading about each topic/item that you are interested in. This forum has all the information you are looking for. Taking your time and choosing the right parts will greatly improve your knowledge on the platform and will also improve your thought process on the right way to go about upgrading your car for your purpose. Spend some time in the Tracking / Autocross thread, you'll love the info.

EDIT - Also if price isn't an issue, much of what I said can be changed of course. There are some very good, and very expensive parts out there for this platform, so it all depends on what your needs are. I would tackle this kind of question over to Mike from CSG or Andrew from Racecomp Engineering. Just be prepared to have a lot more details as to what you're looking for and how you want your setup to be.

I have an ultimate racing catback I inherited that I'm looking to part with.
