sporty sedans?
Just recently had a baby so need a usable back seat and 4 doors. Will probably keep the frs around for fun. I'm not really into SUVs, so looking for suggestions on sporty sedans, something fun to drive with some style and a little more upscale. If money were no object, I'd love something like a benz gt 63 amg or a bmw m8 gran coupe. thats the style of car i'd like to drive, but yeah, money. i can prob do up to 50k range or so. Nothing boy-racer, no civics.
Some of the cars i've considered: -bmw 3 series, seems to be the standard for this type of car, but they seem like a dime a dozen. -audi 4/5/6, never really been into audi for some reason, but open to checking them out -benz. really like the styling and interior of the cla amg 35, but not sure i wanna pay 50k+ for a 2.0 4cyl turbo, even if it makes 300hp. also built on the lower end fwd platform. regular c-class doesn't do it for me, just not an eye-pleasing shape imo. -lexus is350 - or wait for is500? -kia stinger? -trd camry lols -buy used m3? maintenance costs esp at higher mileage? -buy a cheap used corolla, sell frs, buy new cayman 4.0. any input appreciated. |

Cadillac CTS-V Gen2 or Gen3 fall within your range (well the GEN3 did six months ago, now they've gone up to $60K or more). If you want to go full family mode, a Cadillac CTS-V Wagon which you can get with a 5-speed but you'll pay dearly for it. The AT CTS-V wagons are more reasonable and fall into your price range.

The TRD Camry is not a bad choice.

Also throw in the Genesis G70. I test drove a manual one and it was really nice driving. Lower trims new or higher trims used should be in your budget.

if you're gonna keep your 86 as a fun car, why be redundant and get another "fun" car?
Just get something focused on being roomy and comfy that your fam/friends can relax in and is easy to manage a car seat with...not like you're gonna be doing donuts and drifts with your baby in the car. when they're big enough, the twins are the perfect fun car to drive with your kid. the Corolla + Cayman 4.0 (or keep the 86, how much more fun is a Cayman really worth over the twins) seems like the most reasonable choice of the list.. |

My '21 has useful updates like BSM, RCTA, heated mirrors, JBL system, floating large touchscreen, summer tires (RE-050's 96Y) on unique lighter, wider wheels, the body kit, lower firmer bespoke suspension, firmer big brake kit pedal, TRD exhaust, and the many custom touches in and out. Okay, maybe not the spoiler, but the splitter, skirts and diffuser make up for it and Toyota says it adds downforce. What I don't like, besides fake vents, is the 8A/T that gear hunts in Normal mode and in Manual Sport mode won't always gear hold though the paddles are fun and Sport makes a difference in throttle response and steering feel. Maybe a TSB will happen but I won't be tracking it so adapted to minimize the quirks. It needs an LSD and that's in the works. Plus my wife can drive it if desired. She hated the FR-S, didn't feel safe, sat too low (though the TRD Camry is about the same), and doesn't care to drive M/T's any longer. BTW, I used to live on Water St. in Stonington and miss that area for the cycling, sailing, flying scene, interesting people, beaches of Watch Hill, and great seafood. One like mine, Wind Chill Pearl, 1 of 500 in that color I'm told by TMNA. This is the last year of production and the dealer tells me they sell quickly. I'm surprised it gets so much favorable attention given its humble bones. https://st.automobilemag.com/uploads...ic-roof-12.jpg |
