Turned out well except me nd 86 drift were at the other carpark and eventually found the others..More pics to come from 86 drift..

managed to take a couple out to show the ping noise rattle thing
and jumped into a brz and another 86 to reproduce the ping too
thats about it really as it got too cold lol

is pinging noise like crickets chirping under the bonnet?

no its more a short knock sound.. like a tick/knock sort of... theres another post about the pinging which gives ideas from many what it may be..
i dunno if its pinging or just applying a heavy load on the accelerator after releasing clutch.. if you depress the clutch slowly and finely accelerate it isnt heard.. heard when you release the clutch and quickly accelerate or the rpm meter is around 2-3k and you accelerate hence applying a heavy load to accelerate on a lower rev.. if you shift down and accelerate it isnt heard tho...

the cricket noise is related to the d4s system. this noise isn't ping
the d4s ticking and noise makes the car sound like the TSI motors in the golf where it sounds like a disel engine ticking away.. to get the cricket noise its like having that disel motor noise on roids and squeeks and all that stuff lol



ping is

ticking rattle sound like meticallic

ball bearings in a coke can
rails and bolts in a can and you shake it


don't worry about it too much @davey90 .. i would assume by the time u get your car, new maps will be in place hopefully :)

my previous polo 77tsi had the cricket chirp and it annoyed me but i got used to it and when i heard it on my 86 i was just like oh yeah whatever its normal... even though my polo was a mechanical nightmare.. too much power being compressed into a small engine.. turbo on a 1.2...

I know, but it feels so slow for me! yet, if feels fast! not long now. will post photos of twin white GTS @Skorov and mine! xD

maybe one night we can rock over to the new parking lot at warickfarm station and take some happy snaps ;)

Hahah! There should be a soundtrack while we roll out of the dealership together in slow motion. =P

sounds perfect for me, haha that's my train station every morning! parents told me Liverpool train station has opened up a multi story parking lot as well, not sure if it's better then Warwick Farm's parking lot.
