Two Ft86 Specs for Aus

These were from Australian Wheels Mag July Edition, if you can make it out, it says there will be two variants, Base 150kw (NA) and Sports (turbo) with 200kw.

I am not sure how credible their sources are though, but they seem to state it as fact and Wheels are generally pretty credible.

^ That's 201 hp NA and 268 hp turbo, translated for North America.

Possible that they put a base WRX engine in the 'STI' version of the 216a, but we will see...

Sounds reasonable

Interesting....

because the test car had a body kit with a ridiculously huge spoiler it's all of a sudden a turbo sport model? pure speculative bs...

What you said is also pure speculation. Quite a lot of people want to hear BS with boost than without it.

I did a search for the article you're talking about (since a link, or quote, is void in the original post in this thread) and came up with this:

http://motoring.ninemsn.com.au/cars/...4/toyota-ft-86

If any of that ^ is true, then...well....fuck.

Edit: just noticed the post date on that article, so meh. What is the OP quoting about anyways? I'd like to see the article.

Article was posted on Jan 20th 2011. Information has changed quite a bit wouldn't you say? The release of MKIII and Scion's announcement skewed away from what this article states.

what exactly did i say? i just repeated what was implied in the article...

read the article. they show a pic of the ft86 with the big wing and they conclude that its a sport model with a turbo? ok the turbo rumor has been out there since like forever, but now these guys are linking the body kit with the turbo. its not like we have video of the "sport model" so we can listen for a turbo... oh wait...

Links updated, I haven't seen that article before, interesting read:

...Grunt will still be provided by Subey’s third-gen Boxer flat-four, with capacity expected to be 2.0 litres.
To counter the extra flab, credible rumours suggest that a turbo will be added to boost torque and push power towards 200kW...
Hope its not true but if it is then it helps to explains their most recent claim

Nambo 06-19-2011 09:45 AM

Looks like the Subaru model is still in doubt for us Australians, hope we don't lose the option to choose between the two...
