Opinions please - Brakes
Is TMP hard, average or easy on 86 Brembo brakes?
|
Depends on how you drive it. It on it's own has no impact on brakes at all.

Obviously tracks vary regarding frequency and length of braking zones. Just want to determine need before upgrading to more pricey race pads. StopTech Sports have sufficed so far but they are likely near done. |

TMP for me is the 2nd hardest on brakes for all the tracks I've been to in Ontario (SMP, DDT, TMP, GP and CMP) due to a few hard braking zones placed back to back to back (T1, T2, T3, T6, T8, T9) which have very few big straights in between except T1 to T2. This means your brakes don't have much of a chance to shed the heat they've built. That said, just get track pads and live da squeal life. You'll be fine. |

The white Brembo logos on my brakes are now beige from heat cycling at TMP. The OEM pads were done after just a few lapping days in 2019 so I bought some CounterSpaceGarage C1 pads for 2020 and ran them the entire season last year and I still had life left at the end (I have a season's pass so I went 20+ lapping days on a single set of pads). So with proper track pads you'll get decent life but squeal on the way home, with oems they'll wear pretty fast if you're going to be going often but if its just a few times and you're not being aggressive you're probably okay. I'm not the fastest but I run a 1:23 consistently with the odd dip into a 1:22, I get up to 165km/h on the first straight and brake pretty late/hard into T1 so I'm probably harder on the brakes than someone who is just starting out. |
