Proper engine skid/bash plate
 

One of the best skid plates I have ever used.... thoughtful and high quality engineering.... super strong.

5mm thick A2017 Duralumin, 4 quick release mounting points, with protected bolt apertures, with heavy duty steel brackets.
Once the brackets are first bolted on, the entire plate can be removed or refitted in a minute or two (quicker than the standard under tray)
Easily supports the weight of the car as a jack point too.

Nice, the factory one on mine is pretty banged up at this point. Couple questions:

How much does this thing weigh?

How far back does it extend compared to the factory plate?

How do the fender liners attach?

Its not super light, probably around 5kg (including mounting hardware).

Extends back as far as the the factory plate.

Fender liners attach with supplied bolts and captured nuts (but I have changed to titanium bolts in countersunk collars to reduce possible head damage as per the pic above)

It's for offroad use, certainly it's much stronger .. and obviously - heavier. In rally cars for protection i seen often used CF or FRP for protection pans (and other underside protection panels) to keep weight in check .. but that will mean cost spike.
For me this pan lacks one bit i'd wish in such - for it to reach past bumper lip and be angled up past it. Otherwise stock bumper tends to dig in into snow, instead of going over it (further accented by low ground clearance), when sliding off ice track. Most probably this does well the job of enhancing engine protection, but i'd also wish to reduce chance of plastic bumper getting broken off.

The company makes a couple of versions.... each more and more heavy duty.
They make one that extends all the way forward to the front lip.... but the penalty is that is significantly reduces ground clearance at the very front... so if the car is not at "rally car" height, it is too low.

With this plate, it still (mostly) hits before the front bumper edge anyway. So personally I haven't found it a problem.... but if I was to properly rally, I would get the biggest heaviest version :)

Looks great is it available in the US?

Made and sold in Japan, but I purchased mine from them in Japan via eBay, so not a hard process.

Not cheap, but nor should it be.

Laile have a series of legit, serious, rally guards under their brand ARPSport.

I dont know if I am allowed to post a direct link (?) but if you have a look on their (Laile) Japanese web page under "rally and dirt trial" there is some brilliant stuff.

This is item number A564001...and they have even heavier duty versions.

IIRC they also had alu protection plates for rest of car underside. My old bookmarks off laile site seem outdated on that though.
Part numbers for Sump Under Guard i had noted back then were like A564001R (rally use), A564001 (standard use), Fuel Tank Guard A564002, Floor Guard A564004, Differential Guard A564005, Rear Bumper Guard A5640012. Most can be found on ebay, if one puts in search "laile guard". Due size & weight of most big size alu guard plates i predict that overseas shipping from non-local sellers might be of killing cost and better be ordered to custom fabricate in local shops.

Shipping is not too bad, I had mine landed into Australia for about $850 USD in total (by air).
I had looked into getting a proper bash plate made locally...most fabricators didn't even want to try, and those that did were talking about at least 2x cost, and not using the clever/quick mounting system.
Impossible to get made to same standard, fitting perfectly (contours etc), brackets and mount system and then proven under use, for same cost.

That's including import & VAT costs or just purchase+shipping cost? If former, sounds reasonable. But if "final end price" ends up 1100 .. local shops dealing with rally cars here in LV IIRC fabricated alu ones for half of that. At one point i inquired cost of making CF pan for shop that was making them for WRX/STI subbies, but due that being one-off if for GT86 with not shared R&D & mold making expenses cited end cost of ~1500eur vs 400eur for WRX seemed too expensive for me so i gave up.

I just realized its a beatrush product. No wonder why its so expensive but it is high quality.

The same fully dedicated flush/tucked design, steel brackets with quick mounting system, and equivalent quality, in 5mm Duralium, for $550 usd including design, materials and local taxes? Wow, that is crazy cheap, a real bargain.
Would love to see some pictures of their work for the 86/BRZ, and see how it compares.
