Weird humming/winding nose/tire noise?

I’m hearing this wired humming? Winding noise? Kinda reminds me of a truck with large tires on.

Car runs great, no vibrations nothing that seems to affect the cars drivability
See clip for noise -

Any thoughts?
Thank you

Have you done anything to your car recently? Not necessarily mods, but even maintenance items?

I have not. Just started making that noise out of the blue. Didn’t even hit a pot hole or anything.

Can you tell if the sound is coming from the front or back?

How many miles on your tires?

Have you checked your tire pressures?

You might try rotating the tires - :iono:

I can’t tell if it’s front or back
Tires are pretty new only about 2k miles
I’ll try rotating the wheels this weekend
And pressure is good

Thank you

Check if you're getting uneven wear on tires. Maybe worn out suspension components and/or poor wheel alignment?

If rotating the tires doesn't help, I'd suggest (as mentioned above) you have an alignment done.

At the same time, have the front wheel bearings checked.

It's possible, but not likely, you have a defective tire (like the cords have separated).

Happy hunting - :)

Sounds like a wheel bearing to me

What’s the best way to check a bad wheel bearing? I lifted the car checked all the wheels for movement, even took off the wheels and checked for movement. Would I need to take off the brake calipers to check that?

I think your right but can’t seem to find which wheel is the asshole.

Well, back-in-the-day, I used to jack up the car spin the wheel to listen for a grinding sound, then try to move the wheel top-to-bottom to feel whether it is loose.

Sometimes, one can tell by driving down a smooth road and turn the steering wheel from side to side and see if the bearing screams at you.

OR, do it the humfrz way, take the car into a shop and ask them to check the wheel bearings and replace them if necessary - :iono:

You sir are correct! It was passenger side rear wheel hub. Thing was shot!

But yup if anyone hears this noise it’s your wheel hub 👌🏼👌🏼

Thanks boys!

I always worry about my rear hubs. You can’t shake them like the front because the axle holds them pretty still.
