Won't start, new battery, no power
Long time lurker, first time poster :-)
My car (2013 UK GT86) recently had the valve spring recall work done, incase that makes any difference. The battery (Yuasa 60ah) has been on it's way out for a few months and I've needed to use a boost pack to start it if it's not been used for a few weeks. About a week ago I started it from the boost pack and drove 10 miles. When I came back to the car 2hrs later it won't start, even with the boost pack. I replaced the battery with an identical Yuasa 60ah, but now it won't start at all. When I hit the start button it does nothing, no lights on the dash, nothing at all.
That's it though! I've tested every fuse and found AT+B (7.5a) was blown, so I replaced that. I've tested every other fuse in the engine bay and in the foot well, and I've tested the two fused links on the battery. Battery is showing 12.4V. I don't think it's the battery, and I don't think it's a fuse, but something happened to blow the 7.5a AT+B fuse and I'm thinking it's taken something else out with it. Any ideas or pointers would be greatly appreciated, before I admit defeat and call a mechanic! |
You taken the transit plugs out of the new battery? No idea if that would cause what you're describing but might restrict voltage or something

I had that problem once and it was the battery in my key fob that was bad replaced it and all was good

Hi guys, thought it was worth an update as I got this fixed (or rather, I admitted defeat, towed it to a garage and someone more capable fixed it ;-) )
First off, there is a fuse on on one of the ECU's that had blown. It's location isn't listed in the manual so I wasn't going to find it myself. Secondly, the immobiliser had come on and needed the code tapping into the keypad in the glovebox. Hope that helps someone that sees this in the future. |
fyi, these cars do not come stock with a keypad in the glovebox.
this isn't Transporter. |
Seems like an aftermarket (even if "dealer fitted") alarm system in some regions
https://www.ft86club.com/forums/show....php?p=2176698 The systems using that keypad seem to be from Sigma, which appears to be used by subaru dealers in the UK? A lot? A quick google of subaru sigma alarm return a good amount of uk based subaru forum threads |
