What's that crank go to?

autoracer86 09-21-2023 05:55 AM

I was going to say that picture looks familiar haha. I say you scored a good deal on those coilovers.

Gotta do it, always good memories looking back :)

A few small updates I guess. Ticked off 273k on the way up to Red Deer for some autox. 1st in XSA, class of 1. Did an oil change.

Picked up a cheap set of Konigs in 17x9 +40 wrapped in 255/40/17 RS4. Tires are shot and the wheels have some rash, but no bends or cracks and they feel fine driving.

Winter tires on both cars, and I guess a 2023 season recap:
Parts/Maintenance: Wang, wheel bearings, axles, tires, dialing in flex fuel tune.
Kilometers: 265kish to 273k km.
Track/AutoX: 4 autox w/ RDSCC. 1x Strawberry Creek, 1x RMM, 2x StratoTech.

After 10 years in Canada and a lot of fun on the racetrack, it is time for some maintenance. The water pump had a sweat that picked up towards the end of the summer, and I've finally got time to address it. Shouldn't be a super hard job and while I am in there I'll be replacing all the pulleys + tensioner, cleaning up the engine, and resealing the cam covers.

I haven't touched the car since before Halloween, since it's not my daily anymore and the weather sucks. It was supposed to get wrapped for the past half a year but the dude keeps flaking and I'm out my deposit. Credit card can fight with him over it.

In the meantime I got a new Solo DL cable to replace mine which keeps causing CAN codes to be thrown. Also picked up a TRD Japan Short Shifter (MS205-18001) and another TRD Sport Meter (MS418-18001) kit for the brackets (mine did not come with, I bolted through the plastic trim). Because I now have the brackets I've got a TRD Suede dash trim (SU003-07937) on order along with the water pump and all that jazz.

Pretty sure to sent me that part number but for whatever reason the TRD shifter you referenced comes up as TRD JDM shifter.

:iono: going off of what the box says haha. But it is a TRD Japan (JDM) short shifter.

FedEx brought me a few goodies today; a Verus box and a pair of stamped steel RLCA to replace my SPL. Most of my water pump order has arrived at the dealership, just waiting on some straggler parts from US warehouses.

88 days 'til it's time to go to the track again!

I haven't seen much negative information out there for the RLCAs. Unlike the Front LCAs:lol:

I am running newish rear arms from SPL so what do I need to look out for ?

Thanks.

Honestly I'm tired of shops being dummies and stripping the hardware. I've been to 4 or 5 now and each time they call me "one of the adjusters is stripped" despite me telling them "these are fragile bolt heads, use a proper socket and don't over tighten". It's annoying to remove and replace the hardware.

I also don't use all the adjustment it offers, last year I moved the coilovers to the "stock" mount location and I've always kept the swaybar link at OEM position.

Also what the rest of the gang said, not that mine suffer (early-mid 2020 batch) it is something to look for on yours (you'll have to copy paste because a filter blocks it)... https:// www (dot) gr*86*(dot) org/threads/potential-safety-issues-from-lightweight-version-spl-rear-lower-control-arm-examine-your-spl-rlca-immediately.10572/

Got it that is definitely a pain in the ass to deal with. I only had one shop work on my car and I bought them the instructions and an Allen key lol. I also wrote down the tq specs for everything. I have trust issues lol.

Looks like I need to continue to do this ha… also SPL got back to me within minutes and my arms look good. Sorry for the slight thread jack
