Strut & shock choice for Whiteline Springs & suspension
Hello, 2013 FRS with 105K. I have purchased the Whiteline spring and swaybar kit as well as the roll center bump steer correction kit also the Front and rear essential kits. Daily driver, May knock some cones in a parking lot a few times a year. I'm old (57) and fat. Like my comfort. Looking for opinions on every thing from KYB, Truhart, Tein Endurapro and the likes. Wish I could afford Bilstein B6 or B8's but that would delay my Delicious tune for my Edelbrock E-Force. Do I need a non stock length strut with a 25mm drop? Thanks for your opinions and input.

I'd ride out the OE's a few months and save up for the Bilstein B6 or Koni Yellow.
At 105k miles the cheap replacements will likely be an improvement but you'll be back to square one in a few years when those wear out. No real advantage to the B8 over the B6. |

Honestly, I'd just look for someone selling a low mileage set of used suspension. I got some very low mile SACHS PP shocks for $100 off someone locally. Planning to do a full suspension refresh in the spring on my 113k mile '13; "new" shocks and control arms (those all have like 20-30k off some salvage cars), all new bushings, and TRD springs. I'd just look for used OEM in your case, or wait a bit and grab the Bilsteins. With the KYBs, Truharts, et al. it's likely just one or two brands that actually make their own, and the rest are reboxes. Very common practice in the automotive aftermarket, since tooling is expesnive. |
