Cracked front bumper, no accident

2019 BRZ, 1st owner, bought in less than 2 years, no accident, still in factory warranty. There are 2 cracks on the front bumper. One in front of the left head light, the other on the exact symmetrical position, in front of the right head light.

crack near the right head light:

What could be the cause? Does not seem like an force impact, otherwise it won't happen on symmetrical locations. Is it covered by factory warranty? Just want to get some basic ideas before going to the dealer.

It has been forced. Maybe someone has tried to remove it without taking out all the bolts in the center section.

i have not done any body work on this car. Actually I do even drive it that much during this pandemic because I am staying home most of the time, like only drive it once a month. It was good last time I washed it a few weeks ago and it is cracked now. No idea what happened.

Are you the original owner? Have you taken the bumper off? That is an area of stress when doing a bumper R&R.

original owner, never taken the bumper off, only regular road driving, never did any crazy things with the car. no idea how this crack happened.

Could somebody have backed into the car when it was parked somewhere or maybe someone leaned on it.

If you got it new it is possible something happened before delivery to the dealer. Take it to them and ask to have them fix it.

Somebody nerfed it and drove away.

Sad.

Yeah. I bet the styrofoam insert (I know it's not styrofoam per se) between bumper beam and cover is smashed underneath. :(

Look for hairline cracks in the paint.

This doesn't just happen. Maybe you parked too close to the curb and it bent the bumper in, eventually leading to the stress cracks you're seeing?

Oh, what about pushing up from below. Mine's all scraped but I've never done it hard enough to take weight off of the wheels. Wonder if that can happen.

Someone hit something.

If you hit a parking curb enough, I think you would know. Maybe someone gently backed into it in a parking lot?

Quite a mystery.

That looks more like a manufacturing defect to me? [emoji2373] It doesn’t sound like the OP hit anything, or tried to remove the bumper. I guess someone could have bumped into your car in a parking lot?? But I would think you will see other damage.

OP, do you park in a garage?

He supplied hi-res pictures so are people blind, stupid or ill informed. The simple fact is the front bar has cracks from impact damage visible in the pictures which have limited view. OS has a stress fracture in paint running the opposite direction to the split near the end of the split. The OS also has a cracked black plastic fascia below the headlight ( looks pushed in and a 1/4" gap with a 1" crack).
The NS has an extra tear that started but ceased because it tore at the split 1st. It also has cracks or damage to the black headlight surround near the split that has contacted the bar and caused minor damage to the bar also. If you compare both pictures in these corners where the split starts you will see the different clearances of the bar and the headlight surround where the bar has settled after an impact.
