I think -especially with the increase in power the 2.4L brings- that there might be a market for a less powerful twin with the 1.8T from a Subaru Levorg, with a tad under 200hp and lower CO2 emissions. Not sure I'd count on it happening though, as this engine might be just as expensive to produce.

It would be a really nice option, but it looks that customer market is too small and competition by German manufacturers too stiff. Levorg was for Subaru a also failure in Europe.

Well the Levorg was only available with a 180hp petrol engine, a CVT and 4wd, for the price of a German competitor. Subaru set themselves up for a good failure ! :-)

Coming back to the topic, has there been a real confirmation that Toyota will sell the GR86 in Europe? I've looked here and there, but it mostly seemed they neither confirmed nor denied we'll get it.

With no one to share homologation costs with, and only a 2.4 nat asp engine, I have a hard time believing it will be available here.

They have it here: https://newsroom.toyota.eu/world-pre...all-new-gr-86/

"The all-new GR 86 will be launched in Europe. More details will follow later this year."
