Mine will probably end up in the trash, unless someone requires me to present it for some reason

Not to make a big deal but I wonder how they'll establish whether they are valid.

Well, back in my Army days, I always carried my shot record with me on my person. Although we were responsible for carrying our medical records with us when we changed duty stations, I found it handy to have my shot record in my billfold.

Why? Because the aggressive medical personnel at the entry point always wanted to give me another series of shots! I wasn't going to take any chances on getting a "peanut butter" shot.

Maybe for the same reason the dentist usually gives you a card showing when your next teeth cleaning appointment is - just as a reminder?

It's not hard to imagine a few different ways they could be used.

Some examples:

1. Getting into nursing homes to visit at-risk relatives (although I suppose care homes are supposed to be some of the first recipients so maybe not as important). Right now I can't visit my grandfather except for specially set-up appointments for a very short amount of time and it has to be outside on a patio even in the cold. You can't go into the facility or anything.
2. If areas have restrictions on number of patrons in a store, like there are right now, then maybe having a vaccination card could allow you in as a separate queue so you don't need to wait. (right now in California some counties are going back to like 25% capacity allowed at a time in stores)
3. Maybe being allowed to do indoor dining?

Well, have you considered building a better bridge, crossing that stream between your cabin and town, there in WV?

BTW, where is HF in WV?

All of my kin folk, on my mothers side, were from the hills around Beckley, WV.

LOL! Touché but when the waters low I can cross the Potomac without any bridge. I’m in Harpers Ferry which is the eastern most point of WV. Beckley is a 4hr drive from me.

May have finally successfully convinced my parents to do a Zoom Christmas with our extended family.

Happened to see that members of that part of the family were completely disregarding guidelines and being careless, so I showed my parents proof and both myself and my older brother spoke to them about it.

I wouldn't have made such a stink about it if at the very least the extended family was being careful enough about it but after what I saw I knew I had to say something.

Vaccine conspiracies are nuts. Something about heavy metals that turn your body into a 5G antenna?

They should hand out "I'm vaccinated" stickers, like the "I voted" ones. lol

The vaccine can be kept in a refrigerator for up to 5 days before administering. Up to that point it has to be well below freezing for transport. Details are here.

The side effects noted have been aches and fever, basically flu like symptoms similar to some other vaccines but may be more intense, from what I've read..

Well, true, I was going with the whole first in the UK thing, assuming if she was the first it was for everywhere. Guess I wasn't thinking of it in terms of specifically Wales.

Witnessed it this morning on TV.
Apparently it gives one "The Vapors" while being administered.

They should advise keeping a lookout for an uptick in wibble.

1/ Why is it a good question? According to who? It can't be according to you because a/ that would be incredibly biased and b/ you have not posted results from the survey showing the outcome to be "good".
2/ See 1
3/ Your phrasing of the second question is somewhat leading. That is, you are asking "how many side effects" not if there are known side effects.
I would have thought a quick look-up using your favourite search engine would have given you an idea of what to expect regarding side effects.

Wally86 12-09-2020 09:54 AM

Allergic reactions to vaccines aren't unusual, particularly if you are known to have allergies.

Heck, I had an allergic reaction to a TB test, which is very, very rare.

It's not all that rare. I test positive for TB (long story) so I can't even get the test. It's just a chest Xray and voila.

2 National Healthcare workers have reacted adversely to the vaccine..

'Two NHS staff members who received the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine on Tuesday – on the first day of the mass vaccination programme – suffered an allergic reaction, the NHS in England has confirmed.

Both are recovering, it is understood.

The NHS in England said all trusts involved with the vaccination programme have been informed.'

Irace86.2.0 12-09-2020 10:38 AM

I should be getting the vaccine soon per my work. I don’t know which one yet. They are going to start testing us for COVID weekly soon too.

London — England's National Health Service warned on Wednesday that people "with a history of a significant allergic reaction to a vaccine, medicine or food" should not be given the COVID-19 vaccine developed by U.S. pharmaceutical giant Pfizer and Germany's BioNTech.

It's definitely weird. The article flat out says they tested it on 42k people with no issues but intentionally avoided testing people who've had issues with allergic reactions to vaccines.

I don't test positive, I break out in hives from the "prick test" but the test itself is negative, happened on two occasions.

I had to get a medical waiver at work since it is required annually, after I refused to take it again, and they didn't want to pay for the more expensive xrays annually. I told them they could fire me if they want but I wasn't going to willingly take a test that I knew caused me to have an allergic reaction, and they had failed to document it when informed and had witnessed both times it happened.

We settled in one xray test and future years me certifying I had not been exposed. Given I'm not a front line caregiver it wasn't a big deal. This year (7 years after the above) they have now dropped the test for anyone not directly involved in patient care.

It shouldn't have taken all that effort and I"m shocked your previous doctor didn't record the issue.
