Not to mention you don't have to be chipped to be tracked any longer. Those same 329M folks never put their cell phone down. If someone wants to find where your were, they can.

What our CMIO here is telling us at this point is we will likely get enough vaccine to cover first line workers immediately and that's about it. Even with that, since it is an emergency approval product, you can't be required to take it.

I told her the first person that turns it down, let me know. I'll jump in line in their place.

Google do something similar.. Summary of my movement has been "visited one place".. my hometown.. there was a tiny blip when I took my car in for a service or when my wife and I visited London (West End).

Being wary of Big Brother tech in principle is one thing. Thinking that oneself is significant enough to matter is entirely another.

spike021 12-03-2020 04:31 PM

It's even weirder when you're a software engineer at one of these big tech companies and get the work email invites to dogfood (internally test) new features.

I can't say what but let's just say I got one the other day and was like why the heck is this really necessary??

Big brother tech is more concerning to me than big brother gov.

They have never lived in isolation and have always found ways find each other and amplify bad ideas. There are some very large institutions that have been doing it for thousands of years.

This thread reads like an echo chamber. This is not a criticism, merely an observation.
That is, a bunch of people with similar views on a subject stating their position.

Saying "science greater than belief" doesn't work; it is a line that gets thrown out in this flavour of echo chamber analogous to "vaccines cause autism" in anti-vaxxer chambers.

Except people who truly favor science will change their perspective to accept an anti vaxx if it is actually statistically likely.

I personally don't think there's anything wrong with religious belief, if that's what you're referring to.

IMO usually God is depicted as having given humanbeings freewill. So like, why would people choose to ignore that freewill and not use it to explore and learn about the world that God created and make decisions based on that? Seems like a monumental waste of freewill.

I'm just waiting for Novavax to finish their Phase III trials.

Currently up around ~150% on $MRNA and waiting for $NVAX to pop. the returns might allow me to buy a 2022 BRZ cash but I am also waiting for first year kinks to be worked out..

I was not, for one moment, arguing about the methodology of scientific thinking. I was making a comment about echo chambers.

to complete the picture, the blue item is a solar calculator that looks like a 3.5" floppy diskette I've had since the early 90's (still works) and the silver item is the business card of Kevin Mitnick who i met and had drinks with a handful of years back. It's actually a wallet lockpick set.

It's just a mask? It's just a job? It's just food? It's only 2 weeks? Maybe eventually you will understand that it's not just a mask.

Lol.

One time there may or may not have been some functionality that was casually implemented for ... science?... on some equipment regarding geo tagging of devices based on a live stream of such data, available commercially by subscription, just to see if it would work. All copies of the alleged code may have then been deleted due to the somewhat terrifying implications of said possible implementation.

We had 1 new covid case here today I believe

The politicians are talking about how the vaccine will be rolled out

Until it is rolled out it is still anyones guess though

What the hell is going on in the US, the news said your averaging 200,000 new cases a day now and lots and lots of deaths

Are people spreading this on purpose, don't understand contamination control, or just dont a fark

I get 3rd world countries lossing control, but what the hell

The vaccine is still along way away from being released for the genpop, people need to sort their shit out

#tcoat I want my vaccine superpower to be linguistics like that guy in the latest Jamanji movie, I reckon knowing Mandarin might come in real handy in the future what with China now being the leading superpower that hasn't self imploded

dpfarr 12-04-2020 02:22 AM

18041 in my county yesterday.

Yep, 218k new cases and 2,918 new deaths with a total of 283k deaths. It is too bad the vaccine couldn't have rolled out last month before the wave and people could have kept themselves better protected. Even if people get the new vaccine, there is a second dose that is needed, so we probably won't see the effects from the vaccine until late January to February. California is going on lockdown. I'm sure other states will too. Australia is looking good.

Where did you see that? Are you not in Sacramento, California?

All of California got 21k cases, and Sacramento county saw 938 cases, so what are you referring to, or where is your source?

LOL, yeap

We have been lucky, and thanks to the lock downs and mandatory masks and other stuff that people whinged about.

I cannot believe how dumb some people are, what with the "it's a hoax" crowd and the anti vaccination muppets, it is amazing that humans haven't become extinct........sooner

Just a friendly reminder that people are eating tide pods.

The common theme isn’t that this is a hoax but rather that people aren’t willing to give up ‘freedoms’ for a virus with these mortality rates.
