The current trend of the Earth warming is a fact. That humans contribute to that at some level is also a fact. So do cows, and trees, and the natural cycles of the planet itself. We have to take the data and interpret/discover what it is we can do to impact it, but it is very possible we cannot or could not, prevent it over time. I don't believe we really know that.

We know it is man made. We know humans are contributing to the vast majority of the changes. This is not disputed by scientists. The timeline is disputed on certain changes like will sea level rise by 10 feet or 20 feet in 25 years, 50 years or 200 years (I'm using these numbers arbitrarily to illustrate a relationship, as I don't know the actual numbers or variance; the variance could be a matter of a decade or a few years to several standard deviations for all I know, or larger).

Have we reached some tipping point of no return? That is also debated. We know we could create vast changes. We don't know if it is too late.

It's definitely too late. Sell your home and give away your belongings. At the least, give some money to the research to see when the end will be.

I get that, but I just can't get behind someone being offended because, not knowing them, I used the wrong pronoun, in a method I've been using it for 60+ years. If you correct me, OK, I get it now, sorry. I'm also not going to ask you up front your preference. It isn't my responsibility to do so.

As far as rest rooms, they should all just be designed co-ed. Heck, most the time I go to a concert or a big sporting event the Men's rooms are co-ed anyway with women sneaking in to avoid the lines at theirs. It doesn't bother me, and frankly shouldn't bother anyone else.

Now let me use a single stall Women's room at a restaurant or store and watch the dirty looks I get, even though its one person at a time. Makes no sense.

I agree. Most trans people agree. I get the Jordan Peterson's argument against government mandating people use people's preferred pronouns, but I also get the argument that people are being malicious when they refuse to at minimum conform to social norms, which is to call people by what they look like until you are corrected. If I decided to use female pronouns on you all the time, while at work, etc you would probably feel like I was harassing you, so I see that side of things. I've seen conversations where someone who is against a trans person stumble to use the pronoun they want to use like this father on Dr Phil who was against his son transitioning to female used male pronouns, but often used female pronouns by accident or convention like it was clear he was struggling to remember to use male pronouns, so this just shows his prejudice more than some inconvenience to remember to use female pronouns.

I agree. I really don't care.

Well, men are labeled sexual perverts more than women, and men leave up the seat, and men pee on the seat, and oh, men drop giant deuces and stink up the bathroom, and men don't wash their hands, and men leave the counters and the paper towel rack and floor a mess, but also, I bet it is because women are typically more bathroom constrained than men like you mentioned above.

Women are just as much nasty disgusting slobs as men. It's all in how we behave when no one's looking. Hypocrisy knows no gender.

Women can be, of course, but the bell curves don’t overlap.

Some years ago London ( I think it was London, let's say somewhere in populated England) was hit by a ferocious deluge. The media and politicians were screaming at the weather bureau for not giving adequate warning. The weather bureaus tried to explain sensitive dependence on initial conditions and regardless of computing power couldn't forecast all weather events. This is the reason for not being able to give accurate 2 week weather forecasts.

This is the "non consensus by scientists" regarding climate change. That is, there are many models and the models don't all give the same predictions.

Here's an example; two models, different outcomes.

Yea, absolutely. Again, the difference between accidentally using the wrong language and intentionally doing so. I would never intentionally do it. Most people I know wouldn't do it intentionally, even if they don't necessarily agree with the usage.

In the end, to me, it's just words, but to the other person it matters. Its the other person we should care about.
