Painted Brake Calipers
Decided to paint my brake calipers today with some G2 paint I had sitting around. Didn't like the calipers being so plain.

nice!
|
hmmm... for some reason it makes the calipers looks smaller
|
nice color choice :-), love it!
|
nice
|
red calipers would look awesome on my whiteout... but after painting my last 2 cars calipers... ive dealt with chipping paint or dealer service people scratching them or chipping them as well.
i bet powder coating them is ultra expensive |
The G2 paint is suppose to chemically bond with the calipers of something of that sort so it is NOT suppose to chip or crack. Have friends who have used it without ever having it chip. We will see how it holds up for me.

Did you do anything to prep them before painting them?

Reminds me I have some G2 paint laying around... I need to get on this!
How does the red match with Firestorm? That was my only concern is that it would be an off-red compared to the car itself. |
Nice! Did you have to remove the caliper to paint it?
|
The kit comes with caliper cleaner. I first scrubbed them with water, then I used the caliper cleaner. Make sure the cleaner doesn't get on any of the rubber parts of the caliper. I taped off the rubber parts. The cool thing about this kit is you can paint them on the car which I did. However, I bought a couple extra really small paint brushes to get the small areas without getting paint on the brake pad. The red actually matches really well.

Meh..... IMHO. I would rather keep the ugly little brakes hidden than try to make them stand out.
It reminds me of kids with Honda Civics painting their drum brakes red. |

Did the same! Definitely a cheap but time consuming mod

I thought about painting my calipers too, but for some reason they look extra small after the paint job. |
Time consuming for sure. Not too bad though. Half day job
|
Yea, I enjoy the small accents that change the cars look pretty dramatically!
I'll have to do this mod soon =D |
Me like. I have a silver brz. Will like to see pics of some other before i do mine. (Maybe do blue)

I don't plan on getting BBKs until early next year, so I may have the shop do this for me... Just to have some damned Contrast!

Let's be honest, we would do fake calipers on our cars if we could get away with it... Problem is we can easily spot something like that and label it "cheap" or "cheesy" and disapprove. If I can tell, so can everyone else... sucks, but that's life.
