Engine mounts
 

Hey guys

I am looking to buy Perrin engine mounts for my 2014 Subaru brz. However I came across two different types of mounts from Perrin which are priced differently as well.

I cannot tell the difference between the two other than the price. If anybody knows please advise. I am looking to track the car next season and then eventually turn it into a drift car.

Cheaper ones are the newest ones. Get the cheaper.

^ what he said. Far as I know, the other one is an older version which is no longer available.

Another vote for the cheaper newer style mount. Don't forget to look at the other proven options though; torque solutions, cusco, STI are all great offerings

I believe the newer design made improvements to the heat shielding as well, which helped mitigate bushing melting issues caused by some aftermarket exhaust systems sitting too close.

Im planning to get a JDL UEL as well. Will the header burn the perrin motor mount ( cheaper one)? Or should I go for different mounts? I hear cusco is way too stiff and I have no idea about torque solutions.

I think the newer perrin ones where improved to handle the heat. Also perrin, cusco or torque solution will have nvh. People's opinions are based off feel. What's nvh for on is not the same for another. With that said I would encourage you to get the sti ones. Get it now before the sales are done

I dont mind a bit of NVH. I just dont want sloppiness and want to future proof the mounts if I go FI later on. At the same time I dont want the mounts to melt as well cos of heat from aftermarket headers.

This only reportedly happened with the original Perrin mounts, and could be mitigated with creative shielding. Sounds to me like the STI mounts would be your best bet

If I get Group N Sti mounts would it have more NVH than Perrin engine mounts or less?

Less. Group-N not poly & metal as perrin's are, but rubber. Stock like mounts but of a bit more stiffer/rigid rubber then stock.

Perrin NVH isn't that bad. You definitely get used to it. A bit louder in the cold. I see you're in Ontario. Welcome to come ride along and you can judge the NVH level for yourself.
