What's all the fuss about the red manifold? Isn't that what red paint is for? :P

It's not super clear what they've done to enable the 13.5 compression ratio, but it doesn't seem like there have been any big changes to the head, so my belief is that E85 + tune will make an even bigger difference than it did on the older cars, while bolt ons won't be as much of an improvement. I recall people saying the FA20s were pinging on 91 gas, so this engine is going to leave even more on the table.

They can both burn in the same fire.

I believe the higher c.r. might be for emissions not so much for power. They have to run almost at knock conditions to minimize unburned hydrocarbons

I can see the ford...but
I see more of these guys since the front end design (just like the back) is not all that unique.

I would say its just the joker taking a knife to the current BRZ and saying to it
"Lets put a smile on that face of yours....."

Tokay444 11-21-2020 08:06 PM

And all of them look fucking stupid.

Kids Heart 11-21-2020 08:54 PM

rear looks like a Honda

Tokay444 11-21-2020 08:58 PM

The Viper is ok.

I can't wait until they work the bugs out of this one. More power was the #1 thing that this buggy needed. NA power, not FI power, please.

Still not thrilled about solving the DI problem by slapping PI on top of it. Are you guys at Subaru real Japanese engineers or a bunch of idiots?

As for the looks: If it's fun to drive, I can pretend that it's not ugly. (Note: I said the same thing about my first wife. :D. )

Tokay444 11-21-2020 09:16 PM

What DI problem is that?

dpfarr 11-21-2020 09:23 PM

Ha that Mazda above looks so derpy.

Don't pay any attention to me. I just hate direct injection engines . . .

. . . because they inevitably result in carbon build-up on the valves, and then you got a problem).

So what did you want to them to do? Give you a factory installed meth injection system? Adding port injection is the perfect solution.

I wonder if they replaced the spare with a fixaflat kit. If they did the weight probably went up closer to 70lbs

Um, but it works. And it was Toyota's solution (D4S) and a pretty elegant one. Why bag it if it works? They are giving you the benefits of DI without the downsides (carbon buildup). Sorry, I don't get the hate.
