Its hidden real good.

the ones in the back are just above the exhaust tips at the top of the black plastic part

Man I wish I knew you in 4th grade when I was trying to find that POS Waldo. Great catch!

Sweet, now I know where I can put my red tow hooks to let everyone know I'm a better driver than them because I go to the track, lol jk.

In all seriousness, it's one of the annoying things about owning domestics, they make attaching hooks for track use an absolute pain.

It sounds like this car wont need to be modified from stock much at all. That itself would have saved me a ton of money and helped preserve resale value.

Agreed! But it will be modified. Same as the WRX and STI are modified on a regular basis.
Those with the ability to get E85 should be able t really bring it up with very little cost. I am jealous of that aspect.

yeah those look odd as f***. agree, they could have done a better job with the fin. maybe something like the RCF? :iono:

https://global.toyota/pages/news/ima...4/1401/001.jpg

It looks wierd because it just sticks out and terminates while sweeping upwards a little at near the back tire, like a running board that you cant step on. They didnt even try to blend it into the rear fender as it terminates.....

They could have gone the RCF route, they already stole the fender vent design, why not go all the way and take the rocker panel as well lol.

I was just about to bring this up. When did WRX STIs get slower? I guess I wasn't paying attention, but I categorized this car as a mid to low 4s to 60 car, that will flirt with 12s in the quarter by now, as the original did. Now I'm seeing that the base WRX can run with it, and it's a low to mid 5s car now?

I bring this up because I believe that with this update, and keeping up with the joneses (ND2), this car will now be in the 5s to 60 now, which apparently is enough to make the WRX/STI a little nervous. Also, the Eco Pony cars hit 60 in the 5s as well. As far as in gear acceleration, with that flat NA torque curve, I'd say this little car may punch above its perceived weight.

But sure, doesn't have the cheap upgrade potential of a factory turbo car, but considering the price difference, and an eventual a/m FI CARB legal options to come, I'd say that's sufficient. But that 13.5:1 does concern me within this context, but I really don't have any plans to boost it anyway.

Jalopnik said it. The point is, pretty much every car has a turbo and significant power these days and that trend will continue. A year before introduction this car is a little short on power and that will get worse relative to the rest of the industry as it ages. I'll be the first to say lots of cars are overpowered these days (Camrys with 300+!!) but I struggle to understand how the designers and especially the marketing team felt comfortable going with this engine. This model has famously low sales numbers and the only criticism has been lack of power. It's easy to see what could be changed to sell more. You guys keep mentioning the price but industry wide I don't see much concern about sticking to price points. Prices keep ballooning and consumers keep paying, with the help of leases and loans. This vehicle development team just seems to be in another dimension if they are that worried about adding 3 grand to the price and they don't think 0-60 times and kick-in-the-pants test drives sell cars.

While I understand your point, and only slightly disagree with it, I believe people don't care about horsepower as much as they think they do. What I think people really care about is the power to weight ratio. THAT's what they experience in the test drives. And by that metric, as opposed to horsepower alone, the new car will do just fine in my opinion.
That said, at 10,000 feet, it's still going to be a dog.

Whelp, since turboing a 13.5:1 engine is sketchy maybe the Jenny Craig treatment should be my route. If I ditch the rear seats and only require the meagerest of comforts perhaps 2600lbs is possible. My Sti lost its AC the day after I bought it. This is one reason to go BRZ over Cayman, even I couldn't bring myself to start tearing apart the interior of a $70,000 car.

Yep. I think a BRZ is just as fun on track on the track as a Cayman, as long as it has a proper alignment.

My frs is good for 5.7 0-60. The problem is traction and inconsistent launches. It's only a number and I'm not looking to beat the shit out of my drivetrain for the sake of ego
